  2. New scheme to help 'rainbow baby' parentspublished at 15:47 British Summer Time 30 May 2018

Parents of so-called rainbow babies are being helped through a new scheme in Scunthorpe, Grimsby and Goole.

    Rainbow Babies

A rainbow baby is a healthy child born after the parents have previously suffered a miscarriage or stillbirth.

Midwives say parents often find it difficult to plan for the pregnancy and birth, because they are so fearful of another loss.

Nicola Kerry, a bereavement midwife, says parents in the area are going to be given a rainbow-themed bundle of the basic items all new parents need.

    Quote Message

Families don't prepare for happiness, they prepare for heart break and bad news. They don't want to be seen to tempt fate. This gift helps them acknowledge what they've been through."

City of Lincoln Council is planning to install the tree at the Washingborough Road crematorium and will charge £150 for a 10-year "lease" for each metal leaf.
