    A Lincolnshire man who robbed a flat after being stranded 15 miles from home has been jailed for nearly four years.

    28-year-old Daniel Astley, from Laurel Way in Scunthorpe, targeted a flat in Gainsborough because he was desperate for cash to get home.

    Lincoln Crown Court heard how he went into a flat above a shop and threatened to stab one of the people in the flat in the head with a pair of scissors.

    Astley robbed three people of their mobile phones, tobacco and some clothing.

    He admitted three charges of robbery.

    He was jailed for three years and nine months.

    Lincolnshire Police have set up a fake coffee shop to help educate people about how easy it is for data to be stolen.

    Disguised police officers offered out free cake and coffee if customers then filled out a form.

    The form asked for lots of personal information such as phone numbers, email addresses and social media accounts.

    Lincolnshire Police say even simple information like favourite animals or first pets can be used against you in scams because they are often used in people's passwords.

    Two police vehicles have been damaged during a pursuit across northern Lincolnshire, say Humberside Police.

    Officers say two cars were allegedly stolen from a business compound in South Killingholme in the early hours of this morning.

    A 45-year-old man was stopped near Scunthorpe and arrested on suspicion of a number of traffic offences, including vehicle theft, dangerous driving and failing to stop when directed.

    A police van and car were damaged during the incident.

    Two men arrested as part of a murder investigation in Grimsby have been released by police.

    48-year-old Peter Craven died on Oxford Street in Grimsby (pictured) at 23:40 on 15 August.

    Humberside Police said a 47-year-old man has been released with no further action, and a 35-year-old man has been given conditional bail.

    Parents and employers should give better support to young people looking for work, according to Lincolnshire's Police and Crime Commissioner.

    It comes after several young people failed to turn up for job interviews to work with Marc Jones.

    He'd been looking for young people to fill apprentice roles in his office, but said he was frustrated that so many potential employees didn't bother showing up.

    Plans for a new dental practice in Boston have been submitted to the local council.

    It's part of NHS England's scheme to open four new surgeries across the county.

    It comes after BBC Lincolnshire discovered that most NHS dentists in the county are over-subscribed and not taking on new patients.

    The application will see a new surgery open in the town's market place.

    It will operate out of hours and at weekends.

    A borough council in Lincolnshire has invested in a new, shorter, bin lorry to cope with narrow roads.

    Parked cars on roads in Boston have long posed a problem for bin lorries, but the local council is now squeezing its way around the problem with a shorter truck which makes it easier to navigate the tight corners.

    The lorry cost the council £152,928.

    Some people in the town have regularly had to miss their bin collection days, because cars parked in narrow streets meant it was difficult for traditional refuse trucks to get access.

    The new lorry has been decorated with artwork marking the centenary of the end of World War One.

    Police are searching for a man who tried to assault another driver in a road rage incident in Lincoln.

    The driver became abusive after a crash on Lincoln High Street.

    A red Honda Civic and a blue Vauxhall Zafira were involved in a crash at about 17:00 on 3 August.

    Police say the driver of the Zafira became abusive while exchanging details, he then tried to assault the other driver and grabbed their phone and threw it across the road, before driving off.

    The man is described as white, six ft tall, with short cropped hair and of a large build.

    A protest march against changes to children's services at Pilgrim Hospital in Boston, will take place next month, it's been announced.

    The march will happen on Sunday 23 September at 12:00 in Central Park in the town.

    The trust which runs the hospital has struggled to recruit doctors, so it reduced the services available at the hospital earlier this month.

    High-risk births and children needing more than 12 hours of observation will now be transferred to other hospitals.

    The group behind the march are campaigning for a return to full services at the hospital.

    It's her first European title - she won Commonwealth gold earlier this year to add to her World and Paralympic successes.

    Police in Spalding are looking for a man nicknamed Hedgehog as part of the investigation into a man's death in the town in July.

    Officers say an Eastern European man called Mark may be able to help with the investigation into the death near Clay Lake.

    Mark is believed to have worked as a pizza delivery driver and has spiky hair.

    He is known locally as Hedgehog, officers added.

    Police have just announced details of the death on 8 July.

    An infrastructure company in Lincolnshire says drivers are putting workers at risk by refusing to slow down near roadworks.

    Minster Surfacing, based in Dunholme near Lincoln, says its workers are regularly being engdangered at roadworks across the county.

    Research by Oxford University has suggested that road workers have the 16th most dangerous job in the UK.

    The firm will be resurfacing 1,000 roads across Lincolnshire this summer.

    Bruce Spencer-Knott, founder of Minster Surfacing, says: "Often, injuries and deaths occur because, despite warning signs, flashing lights and bright cones, motorists simply aren’t aware of the road surfacing and works taking place.

    A film about the Lincolnshire photographer and author Sir Simon Marsden has had its premiere at the British Film Institute in London.

    His work hangs in galleries across the world in places like the Victoria and Albert Museum and the Getty Museums.

    He is best known for his black and white photos of places throughout Europe which are said to be haunted.

    The film, directed by Jonathan Wester, was made to celebrate the life and work of Sir Simon, who died in 2012, aged 63.
