    You've got a better chance of seeing a doctor in the evening and at weekends in and around Lincoln.

    Thirty practices in the area are offering appointments in the evenings and at weekends from this week.

    The Clinical Commissioning Group responsible for the change says you may not always ending up seeing your own GP but that you have a better chance of being seen by a doctor.

    A woman has died after crashing in a van which was being driven by a man who later failed a drug driving test.

    The 47-year-old woman was a passenger in the van when it crashed on Fen Lane in Metheringham last night.

    The 33-year-old man who was driving was arrested after failing the drug test.

    The road is still closed this afternoon.

    A Skegness teenager has presented the first copy of her book to Prince Harry and Meghan after meeting them at an awards ceremony last night.

  5. Reverse vending machine turns rubbish into cashpublished at 13:07 British Summer Time 5 September 2018

    A vending machine has been on display in Brigg, encouraging local residents to recycle their litter.

    The machine collects the plastic and in turn produces money vouchers which can be spent in shops which have signed up to the scheme.

    It's the first time anyone has seen the project by the Campaign to Protect Rural England:

    Police now say his body has been found in Filey in North Yorkshire

    Family members have been informed and officers say they are being supported at this difficult time.

    Health bosses are hoping that a new app is going to slash the number of people going into A&E unnecessarily when it is introduced in Lincolnshire.

    Users put their symptoms into ASAPLincs and it tells them the best place for treatment.

    A similar app is already being used in Gloucester , external(pictured) where unnecessary admissions to A&E dropped by 14,000 in the first three months since it was introduced.

    A minister for homelessness has praised City of Lincoln Council for its work in tackling rough sleeping in the city.

    It comes as the authority is awarded £519,000 to provide additional support and shelters for people living on the streets.

    Currently, 28 people are officially classed as homeless in the city.

    A power plant planned for Boston will use rubbish to generate enough electricity for 185,000 homes if it gets the go-ahead.

    The plant is intended to be built on the banks of Boston's River Haven in the Riverside Industrial Estate (pictured from the opposite bank).

    If built, it will provide 80MW of energy, enough to power 60% of the households in Lincolnshire.

    The electricity will be generated by rubbish shipped in from the rest of the country on the River Haven.

    It will be heated to a high temperature in a process called gasification, external.

    Local residents are being asked for their opinions on the plans at a number of public events in the town this month, external.

    A Lincolnshire expat with a "Little Britain" museum in his back garden has sparked controversy in Germany for allegedly breaking planning rules.

    Gary Blackburn, who's originally from Burton upon Stather, in North Lincolnshire, has memorabilia including Mr Bean's mini, a life-size model of the Queen and a huge tank.

    But neighbours have objected to the museum and authorities have told Mr Blackburn (pictured) to remove it because he's flouted planning rules.

    Mr Blackburn has vowed to fight on to keep the museum open to visitors.

  13. Boston Stump restoration gets £10,000 boostpublished at 08:00

    The landmark Boston Stump has been given another cash boost in support of efforts to help the famous church's restoration.

    The 12th Century church, which was an essential landmark for seafarers during the town's important maritime history, had been marked on English Heritage's At Risk register.

    It's been given £50,000 for repairs since 2017, including this new £10,000 grant, to help restore the west face of the iconic tower.

    This grant comes a month after the church was awarded £1.2m to help modernise the tourist attraction.

    Evie Toombes, from the coastal resort, is attending the WellChild Awards in London where she's won the Inspirational Person Award.

    Evie has spina bifida and spends much of her time encouraging other children with health problems to live life to the full.

    The 16-year-old is also a para-showrider in her spare time.

    Eleven people were evacuated from a care home in Boston after a fire broke out in the laundry room last night.

    Four fire engines were called to the blaze at Vauxhall Court residential care home on Freiston Road at 19:00 yesterday.

    Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue say the fire was caused by a fault in a tumble drier.

    Nobody was injured in the fire.

    The airline Jet2 is explanding its operation at the airport (pictured) and is recruiting people in the county.

    It wants extra cabin crew and ground operations staff, but also is looking to base more experienced pilots at the airport.

    The soon-to-be vacant home of the Red Arrows will not be turned into a large housing estate, Lincolnshire county councillors say.

    At a meeting to discuss the future of RAF Scampton, which is to be closed by 2022, county councillors said there's "no prospect" of it being turned into a large housing site, according to the Local Democracy Reporting Service.

    But councillors said the RAF station could be used for "very limited" housing or industrial use.

    There were no details on the future of the Red Arrows (pictured), who are currently based there.

  18. New Lincoln homeless shelter 'by spring'published at 15:16 British Summer Time 4 September 2018

    It's hoped that a new homeless shelter could be built by spring, after more than £500,000 was raised in just a few months.

    Plans for the new centre, which will replace the YMCA gym on St Rumbold street in the city (pictured), were submitted to the city council on Friday.

    The charity says that they've already raised about half of the £1.2m it will cost to carry out the work.

    The new centre will have 22 bedrooms, a cafe and support services for homeless people in the city.

    A 'care farm' has been set up in Lincolnshire to help people with mental health problems.

    The farm raises animals on a plot of land in Friskney, near Boston, and is helping to support people with anxiety and depression.

    The project has had funding help from the NHS because of its effectiveness.

    It's being run by Hannah and Chris Blevins, who decided to quit their jobs in the rat race and live in the countryside.

  20. Boston family 'gutted' after boat theftpublished at 13:45 British Summer Time 4 September 2018

    A family has been left "disheartened and gutted" after the theft of £2,500 worth of boating equipment from Boston Marina.

    Two dinghies and an outboard motor were stolen in the theft overnight.

    Lighting, fencing and a small craft were also damaged in the break-in.

    Craig Nash, who owns the stolen boat, said "nothing is safe" and that he was "gutted and disheartened" by the theft.
