    A town councillor is among eight people who've been found guilty of supplying heroin and cocaine in Lincoln.

    45-year-old Sharon Hopkinson, of White Hart Hotel, Gainsborough, who serves on Gainsborough town council, has been convicted of conspiracy to supply the drugs after a raid on an address in Lincoln's Bailgate.

    Detectives found large quantities of heroin and cocaine - along with materials used to bulk out the drugs, a hydraulic press and heat sealing equipment used to package the product.

    The offences took place between April 2015 and July 2016.

    Seven other people were also involved in the conspiracy - three were found guilty yesterday and three pleaded guilty before or during the trial.

    The case has been adjourned for sentencing later in the year.

    Lincolnshire Police's Chief Constable says it's going to be hard to find the money to give his officer's the 2% pay rise approved by the government.

    An independent pay review body recommended 3%, but the government refused to listen to its advice for the second year in a row, prompting the Metropolitan Police Commissioner, Cressida Dick to say yesterday that it felt like a "punch on the nose".

    Chief Constable Bill Skelly says while he's disappointed his officers didn't get 3% - it's going to be difficult to find even the smaller amount.

    He said as forces must honour the government's decision, without any increase in funding, puts further pressure on the services he's trying to deliver.

    Golfer Ashton Turner, target shooter Nick Penn and flight archer Michael Willrich are up for Sportman of the Year.

    Sprinter Georgina Adam, kayaker Nicole Wells and dressage rider Laura Woodcock are up for Sportswoman of the Year.

    A train has been covered in graffiti causing more than £5000 of damage while it was at Cleethorpes station

    British Transport Police say they were made aware of the incident in the early hours of Tuesday morning and an investigation is underway.

    TransPennine Express says it was still able to run a normal service yesterday despite the graffiti but it will be cooperating with the police as it takes acts like this seriously.

    Police were called this morning to a village near Lincoln after someone was hit by a car.

    Officers have not revealed any details of the person involved, but say they were called to the A15 London Road in Bracebridge Heath at about 07.55.

    The road remains open.

    It will be at least seven years before the new North Hykeham relief road will be completed, it's emerged.

    County councillors decided the new road will be a dual carriageway and will connect the bypass from the A15 south of the city, to the A46, in the west.

    The plan to turn the road into a dual carriageway was earlier described as a "no-brainer".

    Unemployment in the East Midlands, which includes Lincolnshire, remained the same between May and July, the latest official figures show.

    The number of people out of work in the region during that period was 96,000.

    That means the rate of unemployment in the region is 4.1%, compared to 4% nationally.
