  4. Child arrest figures droppublished at 12:12 British Summer Time 10 September 2018

The number of children arrested in Lincolnshire have fallen dramatically in the last six years.

79 children aged 17 and under were arrested last year, compared with nearly 2,000 in 2011 - a 59% drop.

Lincolnshire Police say they try to avoid criminalising children where possible.

The figures have been published by the Howard League for Penal Reform, which campaigns to improve the treatment of people in the criminal justice system.

It has described the fall in child arrests as very positive news.

    Quote Message

The more contact children have with the criminal justice system the harder it is to actually get them out of the criminal justice system.'

If given the go-ahead, the planned La Seduction club would feature lap, pole and table dancing.

One councillor has described it as a backward step, but the applicant, East Coast Resources Limited, says the club won't be sleazy, and will be in the style of Burlesque 1920s theatre.

    Quote Message

It's not the smutty and the normal, stereotypical typical sleazy place that people think that it would be."

  6. Police recruit six new foreign national officerspublished at 10:59 British Summer Time 10 September 2018

It's hoped Lincolnshire Police will be able to connect better with migrant communities after recruiting several new officers with foreign language skills.

    Police training

Six of the force's 30 new officers speak a range of languages.

They've been doing hands-on training - before entering police stations in November.

Max Golebiowski, who is originally from Poland, says it's great opportunity to work with the Polish community:

    Quote Message

There are problems with communication, they don't talk to the police... by hiring Polish speaking police officers I am definitely sure it will change that sort of attitude and behaviour."

  7. Drugs worth £27m found in vegetable lorrypublished at 09:40 British Summer Time 10 September 2018

Drugs with a potential street value of £27m have been found hidden in a lorry full of vegetables.

About 400kg of cocaine and heroin were discovered hidden among a load of onions and tomatoes at Killingholme Port in North Lincolnshire.

The National Crime Agency said the drugs were in an unaccompanied lorry, which arrived from Holland on Wednesday.

A Romanian national, who came to drive the lorry away, was arrested on suspicion of conspiring to import Class A drugs.

He has subsequently been released under investigation, the National Crime Agency said.

Officials described it as a "substantial seizure which had been taken out of circulation".

The operation was supported by Border Force and Humberside Police.
