Lowe plays high-flying US cop Bill Hixon who joins the "Lincolnshire East" constabulary as Chief Constable.

And, of course, he's been paid a visit by Lincolnshire Police's real Chief Constable, who just happens to be his namesake.

  4. Patients reassured over Allied Healthcare concernspublished at 15:09 Greenwich Mean Time 7 November 2018

Adults in receipt of services from Allied Healthcare in Lincolnshire have been reassured that they shouldn't see any disruption after the Care Quality Commission (CQC) issued a warning saying it has doubts over the future operation of the company.

Allied Healthcare announced earlier this year it was struggling with debts, blaming low fees paid by councils, but it did manage to restructure its finances on that occasion.

But the CQC has now said the company, which helps more than 13,000 people across the UK, had only be able to confirm it had funding in place until 30 November.

A spokesman for Allied Healthcare said the company was "surprised and deeply disappointed" by the move by the CQC.

He said it was "premature and unwarranted" as there was no risk to services because financing had been secured.

Lincolnshire County Council says Allied is currently only used to provide short-term support for those needing help getting back on their feet.

It says it's working with the company to secure services to the 300 people using it at any one time in the county.

  5. Inquiry hears objections against UK-Denmark power linkpublished at 14:13

    Local Democracy Reporting Service

Objectors have used an inquiry into a proposed electricity link between Denmark and the UK to urge a rethink to its proposed route through the Lincolnshire Wolds.

    Inquiry

Campaigners have highlighted fears the construction of the 473-mile Viking Link, which will run through the wolds to Denmark, would damage the area's landscape and put visitors off coming.

The cable would provide high-voltage electricity from Denmark to Lincolnshire passing through East Lindsey, Boston, North Kesteven and South Holland.

A planning inquiry is being held after East Lindsey District Council refused planning permission, fearing the impact upon farming and the landscaping. The other councils all granted permission.

East Lindsey Council has already indicated its position has changed after receiving reassurances about the impact of the work on the area.

But Stephen Jack, from the Lincolnshire Wolds Countryside Service, said the chosen route had "always been our least favourite option":

We continue to remain concerned that the route cuts through the area of natural beauty when there are alternative routes available."
