    A proposal to build 233 new homes in Waddington has been given the go-ahead by planners.

    The two, three and four-bedroom properties will be built on land West of Grantham Road.

    Persimmon Homes plans to build 91 properties, while a second development of 142 homes will be constructed by Jelson Ltd.

    A Grimsby man cut a teenager's throat in an unprovoked attack and then strolled into a supermarket to eat raspberries, a court in Hull has heard.

    Colin Clarkson, 51, of Heneage Road, whispered "random murder" as he knifed the 19-year-old outside an Asda store in Grimsby in July.

    He then calmly walked into the shop and sat on the floor eating berries while waiting for police to arrive.

    Clarkson admitted attempted murder and possessing an offensive weapon during a hearing at Hull Crown Court and was jailed for 10 years and eight months.

    Crown Prosecution Service lawyer Jeremy Evans said the victim was "very lucky to escape with his life" after the "brutal, random and completely unprovoked attack".

    A Grimsby man has been jailed after slashing a teenager's throat in "a brutal, random and completely unprovoked attack," before sitting on the floor of a supermarket and eating fruit.

    Colin Clarkson, 51, of Heneage Road, Grimsby, attacked a 19-year-old who was selling energy contracts outside an Asda supermarket in the town.

    He left a number of gaping wounds in the victim's throat.

    CCTV footage showed that after the attack he went to the vegetable aisle of the store and began eating raspberries.

    Clarkson admitted attempted murder and possession of an offensive weapon in a public place, he appeared at Hull Crown Court for sentencing today.

    He was given 10 years and eight months imprisonment with an extended licence period of five years.

    Speaking after the case, Jeremy Evans from the Crown Prosecution Service said: "The victim was very lucky to escape with his life.

    "This was a brutal, random and completely unprovoked attack on the victim in broad daylight outside a busy supermarket."

    Plans to move flood defences and create a new wetland area at Saltfleetby have been proposed by the Lincolnshire Wildlife Trust.

    The charity wants to remove 400 metres of flood bank at Sea View Road and build two new banks as part of the project.

    The Environment Agency is supporting the plans, but wants to undertake further talks and complete a flood risk assessment.

    The Labour MP for Lincoln, Karen Lee, has criticised the government's draft Brexit deal for not meeting the "aspirations or hopes" of remainers or leavers.

    The exchange came as the Prime Minister took questions on the proposed deal in the Commons, on a chaotic day for the government.

    A Lincolnshire scouting group has come one step closer to buying tennis courts, a bowling green and fishing facilities for just £1.

    Louth's Charles Street Recreation Ground is currently owned by East Lindsey District council, but the authority's executive has given its approval for the deal to go ahead.

    Louth Scouts hope to spend £254,000 to transform the area and make it their headquarters.

    Councillors said it would breathe new life into the facilities.

    Over £64,000 is to be spent on installing electric vehicle charging points in East Lindsey's public car parks.

    The charging points are going to be available 24 hours a day at Mablethorpe, Louth, Skegness, Alford, Spilsby, Woodhall Spa, Coningsby and Horncastle.

    East Lindsey District Council says it hopes to make the area more accessible to visitors driving electric vehicles and encourage residents to look at buying alternative fuel cars.

    United Lincolnshire Hospitals Trust has confirmed parking charges at hospitals in the county will be increasing by an average of 10p per hour from next week.

    The trust says the fee, which increases with inflation each year, will be used to cover maintenance and security costs.

    It also announced it would be introducing number plate recognition technology at sites in Lincoln, Boston, Grantham and Louth.

    Patients who are entitled to free parking are being reassured it will continue under the new system.

    The University of Lincoln is leading a project to develop a new antibiotic to tackle bugs that have become resistant to the usual treatments.

    The government grant will fund the next stage of the research from January next year.

    Some of the recommendations include a five-year plan, new investment and better enforcement of regulations.
