    The Princess Royal started her trip with a visit to a heritage centre at Market Rasen railway station where she was greeted by children from local schools.

    The Princess later visited an education centre at Boultham Park in Lincoln.

    A new sports project, which involves glow in the dark technology, has been launched in North Lincolnshire.

    The Get Ahead Partnership is behind the recent 'Get Glowing' events at the Ancholme Leisure Centre.

    350 children have already taken part in the scheme and organisers say it helps to promote confidence.and fitness levels.

    Lincoln's Steep Hill has been named as one of the UK's favourite shopping streets by Homes and Antiques Magazine.

    The street is popular with tourists and locals, and is home to a variety of independent shops.

    It was built by the Romans to connect the growing parts of Lincoln - then known as Lindum Colonia.

    Other streets in the Top 10 list include Stonegate in York and Victoria Street in Edinburgh.

    A jury's heard how an inmate in Lincoln Prison died after he was knocked to the floor by a single punch during a row in the showers.

    Emmanuel Dos Santos, 43, is alleged to have unlawfully killed fellow prisoner Samuel Harrison, 29, following the argument on B wing.

    Mr Harrison was found with a serious head injury on 11 September 2017 and died two weeks later in hospital.

    Mr Dos Santos denies a charge of manslaughter and claims he was acting in self defence.

    The trial at Lincoln Crown Court continues.

    Lincolnshire County Council is considering a 4% rise in its council tax precept next year.

    It would add £49 onto a Band D property - taking it to £1,289.

    The authority takes up to 80p in every pound of council tax collected.

    Half of the rise would be devoted to adult social care budgets.

    The trial of a Louth man charged with beating his partner to death in front of a young child is due to continue today.

    Lincoln Crown Court heard yesterday that the face of Marie Gibson, 35, was unrecognisable after Shane Murphy, 28, kicked her, beat her with a baseball bat and stabbed her with a shard of glass.

    The jury was told that Ms Gibson managed to make a 999 call moments before her death and while she didn't speak to the operator it recorded the attack on 9 June at a property in Lacey Gardens in Louth.

    The police went to the address to intervene, but by the time they arrived it was too late.

    Mr Murphy, of Little Lane, Louth, has accepted killing her but denies murder on the grounds of diminished responsibility because of a mental health condition.

    The trial continues.

    One in four allegations against teachers in East Yorkshire and northern Lincolnshire last year were deemed to be malicious, according to new research by the BBC.

    It's understood that more than 150 teachers in England and Wales fell victim to malicious or false pupil allegations last year.

    The National Education Union has said the allegations can end a teacher's career even if they're found to be false and more needs to be done to protect teachers.

    Naomi Watkins, the CEO of a mental health company based in Lincoln, says not enough young people are considering a career as counsellors.

    She said that the realities of the job can be more fun than it's often perceived, pointing out that it can involve working with therapy dogs, rabbits and even horses.

    The trial of a man who's accused of murdering his partner at her home in Louth has begun.

    Lincoln Crown Court has been told that 35-year old Marie Gibson (pictured) suffered horrific injuries at the hands of Shane Murphy.

    The jury heard how the attack in Lacey Gardens happened in front of a young child.

    The court was told Miss Gibson was hit with a baseball bat, kicked and stabbed with a shard of glass.

    Mr Murphy, 28, of Little Lane in Louth, denies a charge of murder.

    The trial is expected to last a week.

    A man has been found guilty of driving at 151 miles per hour on a Lincolnshire road.

    Linas Gedminas, who's 36 and from Peterborough, was caught on camera three times in one week on the A17 between Long Sutton and Sutton Bridge in June.

    He failed to turn up to his hearing at Lincoln Magistrates' Court today.

    He'll be sentenced in March.

    A Stamford woman says she now suffers from nightmares and panic attacks after being sexually assaulted in the town earlier this year.

    The woman, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was assaulted whilst walking home on Rutland Terrace (pictured) from a night out in May.

    Krystian Grzonka, 20, has been jailed for four-and-a-half years for sexual assault after an appearance at Lincoln Crown Court today.

    In a victim statement read out in court, she said she still fears him returning to the area after his release.

    Crews from Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue used hydraulic cutting gear to cut two passengers from one of the cars involved in the crash.

    It happened at around 11:30 today at the Swaton crossroads.

    A pet snake which went missing in late November has returned to its home in Boston.

    The boa constrictor had been missing for nearly a fortnight from its home in Boston.

    Its owner said that it was found at its home this weekend apparently suffering from no ill effects from being out in the wilds of Boston for so long.

    The owner, who doesn't want to be identified, even brought the snake into Boston Police Station to prove it had been found (pictured).
