    The events at the Grosvenor House Hotel are aimed at people who might be on their own over the festive period.

    The tradition began five years ago, with just 70 people being wined and dined in the town.

    A man has been jailed for four and a half years for sexually assaulting a woman in Stamford.

    Krystian Grzonka, 20, chased the woman down Rutland Terrace in the town (pictured) after a night out clubbing. He then grabbed her from behind and groped her.

    Grzonka, of Andrews Road in Stamford, denied the sexual assault, which happened on 20 May this year, but was found guilty by a jury.

    He'll spend four and a half years in a young offenders' institution and then faces deportation to his native Poland.

    People in Sutton-on-Sea will be able to question officials over the future of the town's historic colonnade and beach huts today.

    A public meeting is being held at the Meridale Centre in the town tonight.

    The district council says the structure is unsafe and should be knocked down, but 2,000 people have signed a petition to save it.

    Part of a Lincolnshire road is to be closed for a whole year from today to allow for work on Lincoln's eastern bypass.

    Part of Bloxholm Lane, which connects Bracebridge Heath to Scopwick, will be shut so engineers can build a footbridge and a new roundabout.

    Work excavating land and ramping up earthworks will allow for the work on the stretch of bypass around the eastern part of Lincoln.

    Staff at a Lincolnshire nature reserve are celebrating its 70th anniversary today.

    As you can see above, the sun has risen over Gibraltar Point, near Skegness, this morning ahead of several celebratory events.

    The wildlife observatory first opened in December 1948, one of the earliest of its kind.

    The centre is known for the vast variety of wildlife which passes through, including hundreds of species of migratory birds, seals and other land mammals.

    Tributes have been paid to a University of Lincoln graduate whose body is thought to have been found in New Zealand where she was backpacking.

    Grace Millane, 22, went missing on 1 Dec, but police ended their search for her yesterday after discovering a body on the outskirts of Auckland.

    The body has not yet been formally identified

    A 26-year-old man, who cannot be named, has appeared in court in New Zealand charged with her murder and is due back in court next month.

    Miss Millane graduated from Lincoln University earlier this year.

    In a statement, the university said the community was "deeply saddened to hear the terrible news coming from New Zealand".

    A 26-year-old man has appeared in court in New Zealand charged with the murder of Lincoln University graduate Grace Millane.

    Miss Millane, 22, disappeared in Auckland on 1 December - police ended their search on Sunday after finding a body in the outskirts of the city.

    The man, who cannot be named, is due back in court next month.

    Court documents showed he had been living at the Citylife Hotel on Queen Street in central Auckland, which is where Miss Millane was last seen.

    The judge acknowledged Miss Millane's family's grief "must be desperate".

    Documents also showed police believe Miss Millane, from Essex, was killed between 1 December and 2 December.
