    Your four-legged friends are being welcomed by businesses in East Lindsey.

    The council have started a new campaign, external to tap into the 'pet pound'.

    Research by the Kennel Club has found that four out of five businesses believe that opening their doors to dogs has had a positive impact on businesses.

    And the council says opening the doors to man's best friend will attract new customers and holiday makers.

    Simply look for the dog-friendly window sticker to see which shops, cafes and pubs will allow your pooch inside.

    An inquest into the death of a pregnant woman in Boston who dieda fter she was left waiting nearly three hours for an ambulance has said the incident was "wholly preventable".

    Gail Bailey, 36, was holidaying at Ingoldmells in August 2017 when she started to suffer abdominal pains.

    Paramedics should have been with her within 18 minutes instead her case was downgraded by East Midlands Ambulance as her condition wasn't thought to be life threatening, an inquest heard.

    But Mrs Bailey suffered an ectopic pregnancy and died after arriving at Boston Pilgrim Hospital.

    Officials at East Midlands Ambulance Service say they deeply regret the incident and it has already made improvements after a series of recommendations.

  4. Burglars take £1,700 in Granthampublished at 15:30 Greenwich Mean Time 18 December 2018

    Lincolnshire Police are appealing for witnesses to a distraction burglary which took place in Grantham yesterday.

    At around 19:30 a woman opened her door to two men claiming to be from Anglian Water who said they needed to check her property for a burst pipe.

    When they left the woman discovered £1,700 had been taken from a safe in the house on Queensway.

    It's a tradition which dates back more than 100 years, but protesters say the Boxing Day hunt in Grantham is out of date and shouldn't go ahead.

    It was Kevin's fifth final - but the first time he has won, and last night he brought the glitter ball home.

    A man who "savagely" murdered his partner with a baseball bat and a shard of broken glass has been jailed for life.

    Shane Murphy, 28, killed Marie Gibson, 35, at her home in Lacey Gardens, Louth, Lincolnshire, on 9 June.

    Ms Gibson suffered severe brain and facial injuries, with a shard of broken glass found embedded in her neck.

    Murphy, of Little Lane, Louth, admitted the killing but claimed diminished responsibility due to a mental health condition.

    He must serve a minimum of 20 years.

    Senior councillors in Lincolnshire have agreed to increase their council tax by an extra 1%, bringing the total rise to 5%.

    Linconshire County Council Leader Martin Hill has proposed to take advantage of a government allowance which includes almost 2% for general council tax and 2% extra for adult social care.

    He and other leaders acknowledged however, that the public was at the limit with council tax rises and moved to reassure people:

    Lincolnshire Police are appealing for information after a man was punched, kicked and threatened with a knife in Gainsborough.

    He was walking along Pingle Hill at about 18:30 on Sunday when he was approached by three men who demanded he hand over his wallet and phone.

    They then attacked him before making off with his wallet.

    A last-ditch appeal has been launched to find the owner of a cat discovered 130 miles away from where it went missing seven years ago.

    The Cats Protection League said contact details on 17-year-old Tilley's microchip were out of date and it could not find its owner from Liverpool.

    A woman in Liverpool believed the tabby was a stray and took it in. When she died, her friend took it to Lincoln to care for it, said the charity.

    Despite appeals, no-one has claimed it.

    Churches in Louth are set to join together later for a community carol concert.

    The event features, songs, readings and the annual blessing of the nativity.

    Plans for a hotel in Sandilands on the Lincolnshire coast have been re-submitted.

    Earlier this year plans to build a "destination hotel" and 18 houses on the site of the Grange and Links Hotel were rejected by East Lindsey District Council.

    The proposed development divided the village between people who felt rejecting the hotel was short-sighted and those who didn't want new houses to be built.

    Applicant Tim Cross has put plans in again but reduced the number of homes to 13.

    People in Lincolnshire are being urged to check their smoke alarms after a house fire in Collingham, between Newark and Lincoln, killed three members of the same family at the weekend.

    Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue Service also says it's important families discuss an escape route in case of fire.

    The service has paid tribute to its Nottinghamshire fire and police colleagues who attended the incident in Collingham, near the border with Lincolnshire, at the weekend.

    Justine Collison and her children Isabella and Harvey died, while their father Gavin is being treated in hospital for serious injuries.
