  13. Unions' 'no confidence' in Lincolnshire hospitals trustpublished at 15:01 Greenwich Mean Time 17 December 2018

Managers who run Lincolnshire's hospitals have been told by trade unions they no longer have the confidence of their staff.

    Pilgrim

Officials from Unite say their members, and those of other unions, have passed a vote of no confidence in United Lincolnshire Hospitals Trust, which runs Lincoln, Boston and Grantham hospitals.

Managers have been accused of putting minor issues, like the colour of socks staff wear, ahead of patient safety.

The union is calling on a second visit by the health watchdog the Care Quality Commission:

    Quote Message

NHS Improvement and the Care Quality Commission have already inspected the trust's services in April this year, finding four key areas of care at the trust requiring improvement, but we feel a second visit by these two organisations needs to happen for a more in-depth probe into the conduct of the trust."

    Steve Syson, Unite regional officer

The trust has been approached for comment.

Lincolnshire's Khadija Kalifa has described her experience on TV's The Apprentice as "amazing".

The Stamford businesswoman was kicked off the show by Lord Sugar on Wednesday night, just missing out on the final.

The eco-friendly cleaning business owner said: "It's so nice now that everyone knows everything now and I don't have to keep anything as a secret."

She said the biggest thing she learned was to look at her business with fresh eyes and not to miss errors because she's too wrapped up in her firm's day-to-day running.

When asked about criticism that she was too aggressive, she said: "I hate the word aggressive. I think it needs to be removed from the dictionary...I shared a meme the other day which said: 'I want all little girls who were were bossy to be told they have strong leadership skills!'"

    Quote Message

It's amazing, it's a whirlwind, it still doesn't feel real to be honest.
