People have had to pay to cross the Severn Estuary since Roman times, but from today charges on the M4 and M48 Severn bridges have been axed.

Now, the Hull and Humber Chamber Of Commerce is calling on the government to scrap tolls on the Humber Bridge - it's estimated that could save regular users up to £1,400 a year.

Motorists pay £1.50 for a one-way car journey across the Humber Bridge or £1.35 for drivers using an electronic tag.

The Humber Bridge Board says how the bridge operates is governed by an Act of Parliament, so the question of whether tolls should be scrapped is one for MPs to debate.
