    An inquest is due to open this morning into the deaths of a woman and her two children in a house fire near Lincoln.

    Justine Collison died in the blaze in Collingham, along with her children, Isabella, eight and Harvey, five.

    Her husband Gavin escaped, but suffered serious injuries.

    The inquest will take place in Nottingham.

    Plans to change a former social club into a new bar and restaurant have been given the go-ahead by Boston Borough Council.

    Plans submitted by Fancy Lounge Ltd will see the former Railway Social Club on Sleaford Road converted in a move which is expected to create 23 jobs.

    The building has been closed for more than four years and has since been taken over by the developer who plans to carry out a £280,000 refurbishment of the building.

  4. Grimsby wins share of £20m culture fundpublished at 08:03 Greenwich Mean Time 18 January 2019

    Over £3m has been awarded to fund a new programme of international events and public art in Grimsby in a bid to revive the town centre.

    The town is one of five areas in England to benefit from a new £20m Cultural Development Fund.

    The multi-million pound boost for Grimsby is also aimed at creating new production facilities in the town.

    Announcing the winning areas, Culture Secretary Jeremy Wright said the fund would help people build careers in the arts and culture locally but "also boost wider investment and diversify the creative economy".

    Regions had to bid for up to £7m for local projects.

    Caterex, one of the largest trade shows in the country, will not be taking place this year.

    The annual show, which takes place in Skegness in the first week of February, attracts traders from across the country.

    Organisers say there were a number of factors responsible, including illness.

    Syrian refugees are being offered a safe haven in Lincolnshire for the first time.

    Up to five families could move here in the spring.

    It also revealed that two Syrian families moved into Lincolnshire four to six months ago and are said to be settling well.

    The county council said it's receiving funding from government.

  13. Lincolnshire MP says ministers 'will resign' if forced to block his planpublished at 15:22 Greenwich Mean Time 17 January 2019

    We told you earlier that the Grantham and Stamford MP has put forward plans to postpone the UK leaving the EU if no deal is reached in the negotiations.

    Now Nick Boles has told the BBC's podcast Political Thinking that he believes ministers will resign if the government doesn't let them back his legislation.

    He told the podcast that several top level Conservative members back his proposals, including the Chancellor Phillip Hammond.

    It's thought Mr Boles' proposal, if accepted by the speaker, would be voted on ahead of Mrs May's statement to MPs on her Brexit plans on 29 January.

    Hospitality company Whitbread has told BBC Radio Lincolnshire that it's 80 bed Premier Inn development is nearly finished.

    It is set to open on time alongside a new pub and restaurant.

    The development has been controversial and faced initial delays because of local objections.

  17. MPs reject Grantham and Stamford's Brexit planpublished at 13:10 Greenwich Mean Time 17 January 2019

    Senior MPs have rejected an attempt to hand them control of the Brexit process, as proposed by a Lincolnshire member of parliament.

    Nick Boles, who represents Grantham and Stamford, put forward new legislation which would allow politicians to draw up a compromise deal if the government fails to do so.

    But MPs have rejected the idea.

    Mr Boles says he will take that provision out of his proposed bill, but will press ahead with the paper as it would also compel the government to postpone leaving the EU if no deal is reached.

    People in South Kesteven connected to the armed forces are being encouraged to share their views and experiences.

    The district council has been involved in creating a survey looking at military life in the area.

    It's hoped it will help it to improve services for those linked to the forces.

    The leader of East Lindsey District Council has called for a public consultation after Louth's Tollbar Academy confirmed it would be closing it's sixth form.

    Councillor Craig Leyland says the closure could have a detrimental effect on the future of the town.

    He is urging the trust running the academy to reconsider it's decision.
