A Japanese raccoon dog is currently thought to be on the loose in Kirton.

It doesn't belong to the nearby ARK Wildlife Park, but staff there are helping to lead the search to find it.

The little creatures, also known as Tanuki, are native to Japan and feature heavily in traditional folklore there - often depicted as mischievous shapeshifters

This is what they look like:

    Tanuki

While people are being told not to approach the one on the loose in Kirton, they're generally pretty shy and rarely dangerous.

    Quote Message

As long as people don't approach it or corner it then it should be fine. It's only about the size of a corgi so it's not like there's a wolf on the loose... As long as it's left alone, it's completely harmless. It'll only bite in self defence."

G4S who do things like staffing the control room will also be making reductions that amount to £1m.

    Quote Message

We will need to make £3.2m of savings during the financial year to March 2020 and whilst this is not as bad as the £6.9m we had predicted, it will still mean across the board reductions and consequently a reduction in the service we are capable of providing."
