A German translator who stalked Hollywood star Eddie Redmayne after she saw him in a play five years ago has been given a restraining order.

Gaby Stieger, 49, hounded the Oscar-winning actor for years, loitering outside his home in Southwark, south London.

She spied on him through the window while he undressed and sent him love letters, writing in one note: "I know things about you."

The mother-of-three, from Colindale, believed they had been married in a former life and her face would "contort with rage" when she spoke about his wife Hannah Bagshawe.

She was sentenced to four months imprisonment suspended for two years at Camberwell Green Magistrates' Court today.

Stieger was also banned from having any contact with, or coming within 200 metres of, Mr Redmayne, 35, or his immediate family.
