    George Osborne has reportedly claimed he will not rest until Prime Minister Theresa May is "chopped up in bags in my freezer", according to a profile of the chancellor-turned-newspaper editor.

    Tory MP Nadine Dorries said the reported comment was an "insight into the way his mind works", while Mrs May's former aide Nick Timothy also took a swipe at the former cabinet minister.

    The profile in Esquire, external highlighted the way Mr Osborne had used his editorship of the London Evening Standard to criticise Mrs May's leadership.

    The Prime Minister sacked Mr Osborne when she took over at Number 10 and he quit as an MP after the surprise announcement of his move into journalism.

    Asked for the prime minister's reaction to the Esquire piece, her official spokesman said: "The contents of the former chancellor's freezer are probably not a matter for me."

    A German translator has admitted stalking actor Eddie Redmayne after she saw him in a London play.

    Gaby Stieger, 49, repeatedly loitered outside the Oscar-winning actor's house in Southwark, south London, and sent him love letters.

    Mr Redmayne, 35, even spotted her in the crowd in Leicester Square at the premiere of the latest Harry Potter film, which he had a lead role in.

    Stieger, of Colindale, north London, pleaded guilty to stalking at Camberwell Green Magistrates' Court earlier.

    She was released on conditional bail and is due to be sentenced tomorrow afternoon.

    A 40-year-old woman has been arrested on suspicion of attempted burglary after gaining access to Prince George's school.

    The Metropolitan Police said security was being reviewed at Thomas's Batttersea after the woman entered the school in south London yesterday.

    She remains in custody after being arrested earlier.

    To celebrate its 21st birthday, it is hosting an exhibition of photographs of many of its regular customers as well as everyday life in the cafe.

    The British Museum has apologised after a tweet from one of its curators saw it accused of racism and dumbing down.

    The row escalated after Jane Portal, from the London institution's Asia department, said "sometimes Asian names can be confusing" on exhibition labels.

    "We have to be careful about using too many," she continued, prompting a string of critical tweets.

    The museum later said in a statement, external: "We would like to apologise for any offence caused."

    The first 50 air quality audits for primary schools in the worst-polluted areas in London have been launched.

    As part of London mayor Sadiq Khan's plans to improve air quality, the audits will identify measures to protect pupils' health from toxic air.

    Recommendations include moving school entrances away from busy roads and improving walking initiatives.

    The audits will be complete by the end of 2017, with reports ready by March 2018.

    The 2017 London Marathon raised a record-breaking £61.5m for charity, setting a new world record for an annual single day charity fundraising event for an 11th successive year.

    The new record broke the £60m barrier for the first time and was an increase of more than £2m on the previous record total of £59.4m raised from the 2016 event.

    It brings the overall sum raised for charity since the event was founded in 1981 to more than £890m.

    A 29-year-old writer who works part-time at a bookshop in York has been shortlisted for the Man Booker Prize for her debut novel.

    Fiona Mozley, the second-youngest author to be up for the prestigious literary prize, wrote Elmet while commuting between London and York.

    Emily Fridlund, another debut novelist, is also up for the £50,000 award.

    So are fellow Americans Paul Auster and George Saunders, Britain's Ali Smith and Pakistan-born Mohsin Hamid.

    E-fits of two men have been released by police investigating homophobic hate crime.

    Two male victims were assaulted in Lambeth at about 00:50 on 30 July in Windmill Walk.

    The victims, aged 53 and 49, suffered facial injuries and were taken to hospital for treatment.

    It is believed they were approached by a group of four males who launched an unprovoked attack motivated by homophobia.

    The suspects were all described as white and wearing hooded tops. One of them had a Northern Irish accent.
