  1. Travel: Long delays around Warrington after serious incident on M62published at 14:48 Greenwich Mean Time 15 February 2016

    The M62 westbound remains closed and there is a diversion in place with the entry sliproad at junction 8 also closed.

    There is heavier traffic than usual on the M6 northbound at Junction 21a and Junction 23 and there is congestion on the A57 in Bold Health and the East Lancs Road.

    According to PA Sport, Matip is set to arrive on a free transfer when his current contract with the Bundesliga side expires this summer.

    The 24-year-old German-born player, who can operate as a midfielder as well as at centre-back, and has 27 Cameroon caps, came through Schalke's youth set-up.

    Five men, from Liverpool and Birmingham, have been charged in connection with the theft of a cash machine from a shop in Carnoustie, Scotland.

    The ATM was stolen from Co-op in Barry Road, Carnoustie

    Police Scotland said the men - aged 26, 27, 28, 32 and 43 - were expected to appear at Forfar Sheriff Court later.

    The ATM was taken from a Co-op store in Barry Street at about 04:30 on Friday.

    The head of the North West Counter Terrorism Unit says they are ready to respond quickly to an attack - should it occur anywhere across the region.

    Eight girls, aged between 11 and 16, were hurt in the incident involving a yellow Peugeot car as they were leaving school for half-term.

    Merseyside Police have closed the M62 between junction 6 and 7 heading into Liverpool after a man died following a fall from a bridge crossing the motorway. 

    Police say the man has died as a result of his injuries from the fall at Hall Lane in Rainhill. 

    Police and ambulance crews are at the scene - the westbound carriageway of the M62 is expected to be shut for some time.
