    Merseyside Police say recent figures, which suggest the region is the stalking capital of England and Wales, show they are taking cases seriously. 

    Government statistics revealed by the Daily Mirror, external show Wirral, Liverpool, Sefton and St Helens have the highest number of reported cases - closely followed by Knowsley.

    Belvedere Academy is opening its doors to staff and pupils this morning - after eight of its students were injured when they were hit by a car on Friday

    The girls, aged between 11 and 16 years old, had just left the school when the incident happened.

    A statement on the school's website says support will be available to those who need it.

    An investigation is under way into the accident that killed four members of British indie band Viola Beach and their manager in Sweden on Saturday.

    Kris Leonard, River Reeves, Tomas Lowe, Jack Dakin and manager Craig Tarry, who were aged between 19 and 32, were killed when their car plunged more than 25m (82ft) from a bridge into a canal.
