A teenager convicted of a terror plot faces a "risk of violent attack" if his identity is made public, a court has heard.
The boy became Britain's youngest convicted terrorist, aged 15, after instructing an alleged jihadist to kill a police officer in Australia.
Now 18, he is seeking an order for lifetime anonymity at the High Court.
Edward Fitzgerald QC told the court if his client is identified he faces the risk of "re-radicalisation" and attack, and his family will be at risk.
A number of media organisations have made representations to the court, arguing that he should be named.
The teenager, from Blackburn, Lancashire, was found guilty at Manchester Crown Court of inciting terrorism in October 2015.

Romanian referee Ovidiu Hategan was consoled by Liverpool defender Virgil van Dijk after the Netherlands 2-2 draw with Germany on Monday.
It is understood the 38-year-old official had discovered his mother had died in the build-up to the match.
Vn Dijk showed his human side, embracing the emotional Hategan at the final whistle.

Myles Doyle, 21, used "guile and trickery" to continue driving even after admitting motoring offences in court, Liverpool Crown Court heard.
Doyle, from Liverpool, admitted eight offences of fraud, five of perverting the course of justice and one of misconduct in public office.
He was jailed for three years.

Three people are being treated in hospital after an incident at Heysham nuclear power station.
The BBC understands one person suffered burns, one a broken hip and the other a broken back in the incident at 22:40 last night.
Power company EDF, which owns Heysham 1 power station, said the injuries followed the accidental release of high pressure steam at the Lancashire site.
A spokeswoman said a "full investigation" would now be carried out but stressed it was an industrial incident, not nuclear-related, and there was no risk to the public.
She added that their thoughts were with "our three colleagues who have been injured".
"We will be doing everything we can to support them and their families while they recover."
Fire crews were called to the scene but were not required. The nuclear regulator has been informed.

Robert Adamson, who was in his 80s, had been unable to look after himself and was receiving night care at home from Chester-based agency Jane Lewis.
Mr Adamson was left without a carer due to "poor communication", the inquiry found. His son Duncan said the death had "taken a huge toll on the family".
The agency apologised and said it "sincerely regretted" the error.

Ben Walmsley searched ways to end his life in lessons weeks before his death, Rochdale Coroner's Court was told.
