    Clear spells will develop later. It'll feel chilly, with a touch of ground frost in sheltered spots as temperatures fall to a minimum 2C (35F).

    Two young skiers from Norfolk have been selected to the England Alpine Ski Squad for the 2016/17 winter season.

    Tommy Dade, 12, from Great Yarmouth is described by Snowsport England's chief executive Tim Fawke as "well on track to achieve his potential".

  4. Witness appeal after festive lights are damagedpublished at 17:30 Greenwich Mean Time 24 November 2016

    Police are appealing for witnesses after festive lights were damaged in Norwich.

    A section of lights from the tunnel of light were cut sometime between 19:00 and 21:00 last night, leaving just one bulb working.

    It's been fixed and all the LED bulbs are back working.

    Anyone with information, or saw any suspicious activity, is asked to contact Norfolk police or Crimestoppers anonymously, external.

    Five people who were arrested yesterday in connection with an assault to the west of Norwich have been released on bail.

    Following reports from a woman that she saw a gun when she was assaulted on Dereham Road, Costessey, just after midnight firearms officers arrested a man and a woman.

    After questioning, they have now been released on bail until Friday, 9 December.

    Further inquires led to the arrest of three men in connection with the incident and drug offences. 

    They've been released on police bail until Friday, 17 February 2017.

  8. 'More enjoyable watching Ed on Strictly than Norwich City play'published at 16:49 Greenwich Mean Time 24 November 2016

    This Saturday, Norwich City chairman Ed Balls takes to the Strictly Come Dancing ballroom, dancing a Tango to (I Can't Get No) Satisfaction by The Rolling Stones.

    He's not the only one unsatisfied - at the football club's annual general meeting last night one shareholder commented that he'd enjoyed watching Ed on Strictly more than he'd enjoying watching Norwich play this year.

    So what does Mr Balls have to say about that? He's missed City's Saturday games in the last few weeks, doing the salsa, jive and cha cha cha - but the Strictly season will come to an end in a few weeks' time.

    Amateur boxing promoter Leon Docwra said he has been so devastated by his friend Kuba Moczyk’s death that he has banned his own sons from fighting.

    He had been training his boys, aged 11 and 16, to follow in his footsteps as a boxer. 

    "They are champion boxers, but I had a photographer around last night to take pictures of them with their belts and told them 'you are never going in the ring again'," he said.

    “If I can encourage them not to fight I will – I’m training them to knock someone out.”

    Mr Dowra said today he has also cancelled an event for March in Great Yarmouth in light of Mr Moczyk’s “shocking” death.

  10. Former trainer's tribute to boxerpublished at 15:47 Greenwich Mean Time 24 November 2016

    Great Yarmouth amateur boxing promoter Leon Docwra has paid tribute to town fighter Kuba Moczyk, who died after his first bout at the weekend. . 

    Mr Docwra, who trained Mr Moczyk three years ago, said he had a "heart of gold". 

    "I have a gym at my home and trusted him that much that he had a key so he and his friends could come and go as they pleased," he said.

    "He was never going to be a champion boxer - although he was very good - as he was so kind-hearted and did not have a vicious streak. 

    "To get into a ring was a big step and everyone was so proud of him."

    Mr Moczyk, originally from Poland, had worked at a chicken factory and lived in the town. 

    He was knocked out in the third round of Saturday's fight at the Tower Complex in Great Yarmouth.

    A woman has appeared at Norwich Magistrates' Court charged with encouraging a male driver to mow down a group of pedestrians.

    Sammi Horner, 35, of Market Place, North Walsham, indicated she would be pleading not guilty and was bailed to appear at Norwich Crown Court on 22 December.

    The driver, Darren Blackmore, former of Cantley Lane, Norwich appeared via videolink. 

    Mr Blackmore, 32, is due before magistrates on 8 December on charges of dangerous driving, wounding Matthew Knowles with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and attempting to wound Lee Knights and Ashley Robinson with intent to cause grievious bodily harm.

    Norfolk Police released CCTV footage of the hit-and-run incident, which showed a car driving at a group of three pedestrians, hitting one man and throwing him in the air. 

    It happened in the Vicarage Street car park, North Walsham, on 23 July.

    The former trainer of an amateur boxer who's died after suffering a fatal blow to the head says a minute's silence will be held in tribute to him at an event with Tyson Fury this evening.

    Mr Docwra says he's spoken to Fury both last night and this morning. The professional boxer told him he's "shocked" about the death of Kuba Moczyk.

    Norwich's tunnel of light has reopened after vandalism plunged it into darkness.

    Repairs have now been completed, and the festive display will once again light up Hay Hill.

    Stefan Gurney, of the Norwich Business Improvement District says security has been stepped up at the 55,000 LED light display, which is believed to be the longest of its type in Europe.

    The sequenced lights reflect the colours and patterns of the Northern Lights and is due to sparkle until 5 January 2017.

    The team manager at King's Lynn Stars speedway has stepped down to take on a new role at the club. 

    Rob Lyon will be in charge of the day-to-day running of the business which will allow promoter and owner Buster Chapman to concentrate on his job as the chairman of the BSPA, the sport's governing body. 

    Lyon had been in charge of the team on race days for the last eleven years.

    A third man has been arrested in connection with the murder of a man in Norwich earlier this month. 

    The man, in his 20s, was arrested in the London area yesterday on suspicion of assisting an offender.

    Steve Stannard, 37, was found fatally wounded at a property in Bowers Avenue just before 14:30 on Saturday, 5 November.

    This is the tunnel of light - part of Norwich's Christmas decorations.

    Thousands of LED lights, in the 45m (148ft) video tunnel are meant to recreate the Northern Lights (aka aurora borealis, external).

    But visitors to the Hay Hill attraction were left in the dark last night.

    All that remained of the 57,000 bulb tunnel of light was... a single light.

    It's believed vandals cut wires on the display and a police investigation is now under way.

    Stefan Gurney, of the Norwich Business Improvement District, says they hope engineers will fix the damage and have the tunnel of light back on before this evening.
