    Seven hundred businesses are being asked if they want to keep paying into the Norwich Business Improvement District , external(BID).

    It works with the firms around the city to help promote Norwich and improve accessibility, which helps to boost trade.

    The businesses pay an annual fee and a ballot has opened to see if they want the project to continue.

  3. Maddison signs new deal with Canariespublished at 08:54 British Summer Time 30 June 2017

    Norwich City midfielder James Maddison has signed a contract which keeps him at Carrow Road until the summer of 2021.

    The 20-year-old has only started one game for the Canaries since joining from Coventry City in January 2016, but has spent time back on loan with the Sky Blues and Aberdeen.

    Maddison told the club website:, external "Last season was a big learning curve for me.

    "I went on loan and then came back. I made a few appearances and I've only been looking forward since then."

    Maddison will hope to push on this coming season and secure a regular spot in the Canaries XI. To do that, he'll have to overcome tough competition from the more experienced Wes Hoolahan and Alex Pritchard.

    This one isn't for the faint-hearted.

    Yesterday we mentioned the virtual reality experience on offer at the Royal Norfolk Show which has been designed to promote safer driving. It places you at the centre of a crash... caused by a driver being distracted by a mobile phone.

    It's part of the #Impact campaign promoted by Norfolk's emergency services, external. You might want to put your seatbelt on for this.

    A £27m project to raise two banks on the Ouse Washes reservoir will start next month.

    The Environment Agency scheme is aimed at improving the safety of the reservoir's banks.

    The work will last three years and takes place during the summer and autumn so as not to disturb breeding at the internationally-important habitat.

    The first stage will focus on the Middle Level Barrier Bank between Welney and Mepal and the South Level Barrier Bank between Sutton Gault and Chain Corner (below).

  10. Royal Norfolk Show: £250m funding boost for tennis announcedpublished at 15:47 British Summer Time 29 June 2017

    The Lawn Tennis Association has used the Royal Norfolk Show to announce a national multi-million pound investment to improve tennis at the grassroots level.

    The £250m will be used to increase the number of covered and floodlit courts by 50% over the next 10 years.

    Tony Devonish from the LTA in the east says the organisation also hopes to make it easier to book courts online.

    The MCE British Superbike, external Championship comes to Norfolk this weekend. The Snetterton round is one of the most popular events at the circuit each year.

    Jake Dixon won both of the races at Knockhill last time out. He's now eighth in the Championship which is led by Kawasaki's Luke Mossey. Dixon has been meeting fans at the Royal Norfolk Show.
