    Northampton Town, external chairman Kelvin Thomas says the club will not repeat mistakes it's made in the past, as they prepare for the start of the new League One season at home to Fleetwood on Saturday..

    Thomas says, after promotion, it's inevitable players wages are higher in League One and the standard of football better, but they will make sure they live within their means.

    Northampton Town, external chairman Kelvin Thomas has told BBC Radio Northampton that he "won't rush" into completing the stalled re-development of Sixfields.

    He says the situation is "complicated", but that funds are in place and he will be looking at the "longer term future of the club".

    Northampton Borough Council gave the club a £10.25m loan under its previous chairman David Cardoza, but the redevelopment stalled in 2015 and it has become part of an ongoing police investigation.

    The club finally put seats into the East Stand earlier this year once Mr Thomas took over the chairmanship.

    Northamptonshire would have slept well last night as they're in a great position in this game. 

    They began day three of the County Championship game with a lead of 182 and as visitors Glamorgan have five wickets left in their first innings.

    A Northampton couple will be having what they describe as an eco-friendly wedding.

    Northampton County Council earlier this week announced a fresh round of cuts to help them achieve their target of £65m worth of savings, but today they feature in Mail Online, external, The Telegraph, external and the Mirror , externalover an adult learning class 'Discover How To Wear Scarves Effectively'.

    The Mirror describes them as a "hard-up Tory council" while the Mail says they are "cash-strapped".

    Despite criticism from the Tax Payers' Alliance, opposition politicians and residents, the course itself is completely self-funding and receives no council money, as all the articles point out...at the bottom.

    The sharing of resources between the Northamptonshire, Leicestershire and Nottinghamshire police forces, which the Home Office is investing in, falls in line with plans from Northamptonshire's police and crime commissioner Stephen Mold.

    Earlier plans for a full alliance with Leicestershire and Nottinghamshire Police, external were mothballed, with Conservative Mr Mold saying he wanted to concentrate on the sharing of back office functions and the personnel/human resources departments.

    It looks like it's going to be a sunny weekend and Wellingborough is inviting us to dig out our buckets and spades, get ready for Punch and Judy and eat ice cream as the town's beach opens tomorrow, external.

    According to John Cable, from Wellingborough Business Improvement District, it features "the best sand available" and it brings a touch of the seaside to this landlocked county.

    The borough council points out that the nearest real beach is 70 miles away.

    Last night Northampton Town, external manager Rob Page joined me for an hour in the studio, ahead of the new League One season starting tomorrow.

    Among the things we found about the former Wales international is that he's taught himself to play the guitar, was a fan of Manchester United as a youngster, and that being a father of three he spends most of free time driving his children to various classes and events.

    Our police force could be getting to know its neighbours a bit better soon...

    This is because the Home Office has announced it's pumping over £5.5m into efforts to increase the sharing of resources between Leicestershire, Nottinghamshire and Northamptonshire police.

    A brutal innings of 91 from Northants stand-in skipper Rory Kleinveldt (pictured) was the highlight of Northants' 321 all out against Glamorgan in Swansea.

    Glamorgan lost three wickets for one run in five balls after tea and struggled to 139-5 despite a career-best 79 not out for Nick Selman.

    Azharullah and Ben Sanderson ran through the rest of the top order. Earlier, Kleinveldt clubbed 39 off his last 10 balls before becoming one of three victims for David Lloyd.

    Teenager Saif Zaib (65 not out) put on 130 with Kleinveldt, while debutant Laurie Evans made a composed 74.
