    On Saturday, Network Rail began work upgrading the bridges and viaducts between Kettering and Corby to allow more trains to run.

    Buses will replace trains, external between Kettering and Corby from now until 24 October.

    Although there will be disruption to commuters who use Corby, those who championed the opening of the new station in 2009 say it shows what a success it's been that East Midlands Trains wants to run more frequent services to and from the town.

    They have recorded back-to-back wins and today there will be a lot of focus on opener Ben Duckett, with the England team to tour Bangladesh due to be announced this Friday.

    Then, replacement Northampton hooker Mike Haywood crossed late on as they secured a bonus-point victory.

    Northampton Town made it back-to-back victories in League One and 31 league games unbeaten with a 2-0 win over Walsall at Sixfields.

    Midfielder Matt Taylor opened the scoring with a first half header. Alex Revell then scored a penalty in the second half after Walsall's Jason McCarthy handled inside the area.

    The win moves the Cobblers up to eighth in the League One table. They next play Chesterfield away on Saturday.

    Saturday saw Northants' cricketers celebrate their Twenty20 Blast victory with an open-top bus parade.

    Despite the rain, fans lined the route in Northampton to see the players, who beat Durham in the final.

    The bus left Wantage Road at 11:45 and travelled along Wellingborough Road to a civic reception at the Guildhall.

    Captain Alex Wakely described fans' support as "overwhelming".

    On Friday 15-year-old Northampton swimmer Ellie Robinson won gold in the women's 50m butterfly S6.

    Robinson, who has Perthes hip disease, external and has daily physiotherapy, recovered well from a slow start in the final to finish strongly and set a new Paralympic record.

    She couldn't quite believe it...

    "It's so weird, it's not sunk in yet," she said afterwards. "I feel like someone's going to say 'Ellie, wake up'."
