    Organisers of the Download Festival say they have spent half a million pounds to try to make sure this year's event isn't as muddy as last year , external .

    Heavy rain transformed the Donington Park rock festival into a mudbath last summer but 3,000 metres of extra drainage is being installed at the site this time around to try to head off similar problems.

    A stage has also been moved, traffic routes into the site altered and extra workers taken on to deal with any issues.

    There was also talk of Ahmed Musa following several reports that he'd been arrested.

    Shakespeare said he'd spoken with the striker who assured him "there wasn't a lot in it" and that it was a police matter that had been cleared up.

    When it comes to the team he'll pick for the match on Sunday, he said he'll choose players that can win the game and that he'll not be thinking about the upcoming Champions League game.

    Eleven people who made hundreds of thousands of pounds from in a "cash for crash" scam have been jailed for fraud offences.

    At least 41 crashes were staged in 2011 and 2013 across Derbyshire, with gang members acting as drivers, passengers, witnesses and in other roles.

    Nottingham Crown Court heard one victim missed a funeral as a result of a crash, with an elderly woman too shaken to drive again after one incident.

    Derbyshire Police welcomed the sentences.

    Anti-fracking activists have chained themselves to a deep drilling company's gates "in solidarity" with campaigners  opposed to fracking in Lancashire.

    Reclaim the Power said it targeted Marriott Drilling in Chesterfield as it had links to a company behind the UK's first horizontal fracking site. 

    The pressure group also said the action was "in solidarity" with campaigners opposed to fracking in Lancashire

    Ten people have been arrested in connection with the demonstration. 

    This protest is the latest in a fortnight of action, external against companies Reclaim the Power believes has links to the fracking industry.

    A lorry driver who was jailed in his absence for trying to smuggle nearly six million cigarettes through Dover is behind bars.

    Richard Curtis, who's 57 and from Bawtry in South Yorkshire, was sentenced to three years and nine months at Maidstone Crown Court on Wednesday, but failed to appear.

    He was found in a pub in Jacksdale near Nottingham, when a member of the public spotted him following a media appeal.

    The illicit cigarettes, which were found hidden in a load of frozen food, would have cost the exchequer £1.3m in lost duty.

    Residents living in Egginton are unhappy about cuts to their local bus service.

    From the end of May, the Trent Barton buses will be changing their routes and won't stop in Egginton. Locals say they'll have to walk miles to their nearest route.

    A protest is being staged this lunchtime by staff at a Nottinghamshire benefits office facing closure.

    After admitting to beating his wife with a cricket bat and forcing bleach into her mouth Mustafa Bashir had been spared jail.

    It's after he told the court he'd lose a professional cricketing contract with Leicestershire. 

    At Manchester Crown Court today we heard how Bashir played local league cricket in Bolton and previously for Islamabad. He had a "net session" at Leicestershire but there was no pending contract.

    A sports agent had written to court to say Bashir had a "very bright future ahead of him" as he'd been selected for Leicestershire. The new defence said the probation officer and previous defence had the "wrong end of the stick" and that the sports agent "mistyped" the letter to court.

    The sports agent has since been spoken to by police.

    Bashir's defence said he didn't have any intention of misleading the court and that he "wasn't listening" when his barrister spoke about the professional cricket contract.

    A lorry driver who was missing from court when jailed in January has been found in a Nottinghamshire pub.

    Richard David Curtis from Bawtry in South Yorkshire was given a three-year and nine-month sentence for his involvement in a £1.3m illicit tobacco plot.

    The 57-year-old smuggled 5.7 million cigarettes into the Port of Dover. They had been hidden under boxes of frozen chips inside his HGV.

    Curtis had said he was unaware of the illicit cigarettes but was found guilty by a jury. He is now behind bars.

    Three cats in Croft, near Hinckley, are believed to have died from suspected antifreeze poisoning.

    The animal charity RSPCA was contacted by one cat owner after her pet died on Thursday last week (30 March).

    The animal was examined by a vet and is believed to have ingested the toxic substance near to their home on Hill Street.

    This is a very upsetting incident which has resulted in the deaths of a much-loved family pet. The cat’s owner has also been made aware of two other cats in the area which have also died as a result of suspected antifreeze poisoning, which is a huge concern. At this stage we do not know if these were accidental incidents or deliberate."
