After admitting to beating his wife with a cricket bat and forcing bleach into her mouth Mustafa Bashir had been spared jail.
It's after he told the court he'd lose a professional cricketing contract with Leicestershire.
At Manchester Crown Court today we heard how Bashir played local league cricket in Bolton and previously for Islamabad. He had a "net session" at Leicestershire but there was no pending contract.
A sports agent had written to court to say Bashir had a "very bright future ahead of him" as he'd been selected for Leicestershire. The new defence said the probation officer and previous defence had the "wrong end of the stick" and that the sports agent "mistyped" the letter to court.
The sports agent has since been spoken to by police.
Bashir's defence said he didn't have any intention of misleading the court and that he "wasn't listening" when his barrister spoke about the professional cricket contract.
