    Hundreds of properties in Leicestershire and Rutland are without power following last night's high winds across the region.

    According to Western Power Distribution's live information, external, the two main power cuts appear to be in Cottesmore in Rutland, where 673 properties are affected and Market Bosworth, where 168 are without power.

    The roads of Derbyshire are littered with fallen trees and branches this morning after a night of high winds.

    Police say they've been inundated with calls overnight and are dealing with a fallen tree on the slip road at the Raynesway junction with the A52.

    Further north, conditions have been made worse by overnight snow and some of the normally affected routes in the Peak District are shut.

    Police have urged drivers to take extra care and to not ignore road closure signs if they come across them.

    Western Power Distribution says, external a number of homes are without power in the East Midlands following high winds overnight.

    These include 168 in Market Bosworth, 59 in Long Eaton, 77 near Mansfield and 36 near Wessington.

    Police have warned drivers to take care this morning as high winds overnight have led to a number of trees falling over across the region. Highways England is currently listing the following problems:

    • Braybrooke Road in Market Harborough is closed following a crash involving multiple vehicles
    • A fallen tree is blocking one side of Leicester Road in Whitwick
    • Police have also closed the junction of Mapperley Plains and Catfoot Lane in Mapperley because of a fallen tree
    • The A57 Snake Pass remains closed due to snow and ice
    • There are delays on the M1 southbound between J26 and J25
