    The Met Office has issued a yellow warning for snow, external in the East Midlands from 00:05 to 11:00 tomorrow.

    The advisory applies to Derby, Derbyshire, Nottingham. Nottinghamshire, Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland.

    The chief forecaster said: "Much of the lower ground will see little if any snow accumulating, but 1-3 cm is likely in some places, with 5 cm above 200 metres and possibly 10 cm on roads above 300 metres."

    Compensation will be paid to Severn Trent customers left without water for more than 12 continuous hours following the recent freezing temperatures.

    A payment of £30 will be offered to all homes affected by the "huge number of bursts" across the network.

    Arnold, Ashbourne and Belper are among the areas where people have been left without water.

    The firm said customers would be contacted in the coming weeks regarding the payment.

    Terry Hawridge put the Magpies ahead in the first half but Joe Morrell struck in the second half to earn a draw.

    Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service says it received 200 applications in the first six hours of its new recruitment drive.

    The service is taking on full-time firefighters for the first time since 2012 and is looking for people who live in the county and want to tackle fires and rescue people stuck in road collisions.

    The deadline to apply is 18 March, or once it has received 500 complete applications.

    A driver who caused two hours of delays after getting stuck across a carriageway when trying to do a U-turn has been reported for careless driving.

    Derbyshire Roads Policing unit said after going south on the M1 he came off at junction 28 in Derbyshire, by mistake.

    After pulling off the roundabout, the driver had a change of heart, attempted a U-turn and got stuck, causing tailbacks which blocked the A38 and the exit slip from the M1.

    Officers called it "unprofessional driving" and said the driver has been reported.

    Mansfield and Lincoln fans united in a minute’s applause in the 59th minute of their 1-1 draw last night.

    It was to remember Stags fan Ian Coupe, who passed away last week.

    Leicester city goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel has teamed up with Leicestershire's Police and Crime Commissioner Lord Willy Bach, for the launch of a series of youth sports projects.

    The initiative hopes to build self-esteem and cut crime among young people.

    Up to £70,000 is being shared across seven charities in Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland.

    The pair announced the funding at Leicestershire Police headquarters on Tuesday.

    A Derbyshire village primary school is closed today because it has no running water.

    Derbyshire County Council said water was restored overnight at Mapperley CE Primary School, near Ilkeston, but pipes have burst again.

    Water remains off in the whole village.

    Severn Trent Water said: "Apologies to our customers who are experiencing water supply interruptions. There has been a further burst pipe within the area and our teams are continuously working hard to get this resolved."

    East Midlands Ambulance Service was called 1,244 times by a single patient over a 12-month period, the BBC has learned.

    The figures, released by NHS ambulance trusts, showed a total of 8,303 emergency calls were made by the five most frequent UK callers from November 2016 to October 2017.

    An NHS spokesman said the calls were often related to mental health, chronic pain and alcohol or drug dependence.

    Of those 1,244 calls to EMAS, an ambulance was deployed on 64 occasions.

    To mark the 25th anniversary of the closure of a well known pub, two books are to be written.

    The Green Man Pub, which was open until 1993, is closed up under the busy Carillon Court shopping centre in Loughborough.

    Five authors, who make up Ruler's Wit, are writing two books about the underground bar. One being a novel and the other looking at its history and the memories of those who went there and worked there.

    A bottled water collection point will open in Arnold later for those continuing to have issues with their water supply.

    Some people in the area have had little or no running water after a pipe burst on Sunday.

    Severn Trent says the pipe has been fixed but air in the network is preventing water from reaching some customers.

    The collection point is due to open at Sainsbury's, in Sir John Robinson Way, at 10:30.
