    A man has been taken to hospital after being assaulted in Derby this afternoon.

    He was attacked near Great Northern Road at around 13:00 and taken to Derby Royal Hospital with serious but not life-threatening injuries.

    A spokeswoman for Derbyshire Police said: “Anyone who was in the area at the time and witnessed anything suspicious is asked to contact us via private message to the force’s social media accounts or by calling 101."

    Police are concerned for the wellbeing of a teenage girl who went missing on Wednesday evening.

    Grace Pashley, 15, went missing from Dronfield and could be in the Sheffield area.

    She is 5ft 5ins tall and of slim build, with dark hair which was tied up in a bun when she was last seen.

    It is thought she may have been wearing a pink fluffy jacket and jelly shoes.

    A yellow thunderstorm warning has been issued across parts of the East Midlands by the Met Office.

    The warning affects most of Leicestershire and Rutland, along with parts of Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire.

    The Met Office has warned that disruption to power and flooding is likely and that travelling could take longer due to the storm.

    A family have said they're scared in their own home after hooded vandals smashed their car windscreen and threw paint at their house late at night.

    Emma and Lee Urry looked out their bedroom window in Langley Mill to see "two lads casually walking down the road" after hearing smashing noises at about 23:00 on Monday.

    Mr Urry, a father-of-three, said he only knew a handful of people in the area and could not understand why they have been targeted.

    The 35-year-old engineer said: "The impact has been terrible, I'm not sleeping. My wife even wants to move.

    "I just want to know why they would do this?"

    We all know there's too much being plastic being put in to the environment - but it's only when you see the impact it is starting to have on our wildlife that it hits home.

    Goldfinches at Attenborough Nature Reserve have built their nest using 90% plastic, including twine and polyester cushion filling.

    Although, as the reserve admits, it makes for an "interesting" find, it shows how prevalent plastic waste has become.

    Police say a 17-year-old boy who was stabbed in Leicester yesterday remains in a critical condition, external.

    The teenager was found in Linford Street shortly after officers were called out to reports of a group of men fighting with knives in the Belgrave area.

    A Vauxhall Insignia and Renault Clio thought to have been involved in the violence were both found nearby and are being examined.

    No-one has been arrested. Police have appealed for witnesses and dashcam footage.

    Two teenage boys have been charged with 10 offences relating to a spate of burglaries and car thefts.

    The two 16-year-olds are accused of three counts of burglary and theft, four counts of theft of a motor vehicle, and three counts of theft from a motor vehicle.

    The charges relate to burglaries and thefts between 2 and 5 June in Mansfield, Ravenshead and Arnold.

    They are due to appear at Mansfield Magistrates' Court today.

    Concern is growing for the safety of Tillie Piggott, 15, who was last seen in Cleethorpes, Lincolnshire on Saturday.

    She has strong family links to Derbyshire but it is believed she could also be in Bedfordshire.

    She is 5ft 6in with long, straight black hair and piercings in both ears.
