A tea party to celebrate a 4,000-piece antique collection of Royal Crown Derby tableware is to take place ahead of its sale.

David Boorman, 75, originally from Derby, said since 2010, he collected the tea cups and saucers to remind him of his former home.

Mr Boorman - who left the city for work in 1978 and now lives in Newcastle upon Tyne with his wife - said: "The porcelain connected me to Derby. Being so far away, it's nice to have that.

"When I was growing up in the 1940s and 50s, it was aspirational to own Royal Crown Derby tableware. It was part of being a Derby person."

Sixteen hotels in Chesterfield have failed to perform checks during a police child sexual exploitation operation.

In December, Derbyshire Police visited 18 hotels, in which a plain-clothed officer and a young police cadet tried to book a room.

The hotels were supposed to "recognise the signs" of child sexual exploitation and refuse to rent out a room, and then contact police.

But the force said only two hotels followed the correct procedure.

Sgt Mat Winterbottom said: "Although the result was disappointing, we now have the opportunity to further improve education and training around what hotel staff should look out for."

Nottingham's cattle market, which was badly damaged by a fire in 2018, could be replaced by offices, an entertainment venue, flats and a hotel.

Land has also been set aside for a tram line, either to the south or north of Meadow Lane.

The proposed regeneration of the site is part of a wider development to the area immediately north of the River Trent.

Cattle market workers have expressed their sadness, and fear it could lead to a loss of identity for the area.

The latest plans for the Cattle Market come just over a year since a devastating fire destroyed four premises and damaged a further nine.

Businesses have had to uproot where they are based, moving temporarily or permanently, with several owners saying footfall in the area has still not recovered following the fire.

The proposed future of the site is included in the council’s master plan for the city over the next eight years, known as the Local Plan.
