A broken-down train means passengers between Matlock and Derby are facing delays.
East Midlands Rail (EMR) said buses will be provided to keep passengers moving.
The train broke down at Ambergate, Derbyshire, so the trains between Sheffield, Derby and London are not affected.
EMR expects to reopen the line in about two hours.

Attenborough Nature Reserve's centre will be shut today because the River Trent has burst its banks.
They wrote in a statement: "We'll look to get the centre open as soon as the water drops in the next day or so."

A family were stuck in their car in flood water for more than an hour before being rescued.
Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service along with Leicestershire and Rutland 4 x 4 Response rescued the family from water in Slash Lane, Sileby, Leicesershire on Sunday.
Drivers are being asked not to attempt to get through flood water.

Loughborough MP Jane Hunt said: "Please don't drive through the water if you possibly can. Don't walk through the water if you can possibly help it and I will be doing all I can to sort this out."
She added flooding in Sileby village is "the worse it's been for some time".
"The county council has set aside £550,000 for a section 19 investigation to understand exactly why all these places [across Leicestershire] are being flooded. Those people need to be looked after," she said.

A group of rescue ponies huddling on a small patch of dry grass to avoid flood water have seen their field submerged eight times this year, their owner said.
Sharon Bunney said she could tell the group in Mountsorrel were "fed up" with the constant flooding, which she believes is worsened by blocked drainage ditches.
She said this means they are having to buy more hay than usual as they cannot graze and appealed to the public for help feeding them.

There are delays to a number of Nottinghamshire bus lines this morning because of a flooded depot.
Nottingham City Transport warned of delays on South Notts 1, Navy 48 and Grey 53, 54.
This is because their home depot in Gotham was flooded so they are operating from elsewhere.

The government has announced it is activating its emergency funding scheme to help areas hit by Storm Dennis.
Ministers have agreed to allow a number of affected local councils to apply for funding under the Bellwin scheme.
The scheme allows councils to apply for 100% of the non-insurable costs they incur to deal with storm damage.
The areas approved include in Nottinghamshire, Leicestershire, Derbyshire, Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin, Worcestershire and Herefordshire.

Parts of the A52 in Nottinghamshire have been closed due to flooding.
The busy road is closed in both directions from Grantham to Saxondale Island, in Saxondale.
Police said Kelham Bridge is also closed because of "unsafe driving conditions".
