    A number of houses were evacuated overnight after armed police were called to a street in Nottingham.

    Officers went to Bagnall Road in Cinderhill at 19:45 on Sunday and closed off the road.

    A police helicopter and drone were deployed during the incident.

    A 55-year-old man was arrested at about 03:50 on suspicion of possession of an imitation firearm with intent to cause fear of violence and production of a controlled drug. He remains in custody.

    Police thanked residents for their co-operation and confirmed there were no reports of any injuries.

    Bars, restaurants and hair salons are allowed to reopen in Leicester today as lockdown restrictions in the city are eased further.

    It comes almost exactly a month after similar businesses in other parts of the country were given the green light to welcome back customers.

    Cinemas and museums are also allowed to reopen but leisure centres, gyms and pools must remain closed.

    Ivan Browne, Leicester's director of public health, said on Thurday the infection rate in the city had fallen to about 55 per 100,000 people from 135 at the start of the local lockdown.
