A burglar was caught with the help of a bus driver who spotted the culprit scaling a fence while on his break, police said.

Nottinghamshire Police said on 10 March, Kelvin Briggs climbed over a garden fence before forcing his way into a home in Middleton Boulevard, Lenton, and demanding cash and car keys from a woman inside.

Unbeknownst to him, a bus driver on his break had spotted the 38-year-old scaling the fence and phoned police.

The force said the burglar fled with just £5 after hearing approaching sirens, but remained unaware of the driver who was able to direct officers to Briggs, who was hiding in a neighbour's garden.
