A terminally ill man has called the theft of his mobility scooter - leaving him unable to leave the house - "gutting".
Derek Trigg, 70, a former merchant navy seaman, found his black and grey scooter had been taken from his home in Fenton Close, Newark, at about 23:40 on 25 January.
A neighbour told police they saw two men lift a scooter into the back of a red hatchback shortly beforehand.
The cancer patient said the Ambassador scooter he bought in 2014 for £1,095 was his "lifeline" and that he had "fond memories" of using it with his late wife Tina.
"I have fond memories of Tina holding on to the side of the buggy and plodding along beside me," he said.
"It has been completely gutting to lose it and I'm at a loss without it. It's completely taken away my independence and my lifeline really.
"These heartless thieves have taken away the one enjoyment I've been able to have during the pandemic and now I'm just stuck indoors not able to go anywhere."
Police are appealing for information and have shared an image of a similar model, pictured below.
