A former Mansfield Town FC sports scientist has swapped her training kit for an officer's uniform after joining Nottinghamshire Police.
Beth Wilcockson left her job as a pitch-side data analyst for the Stags to become a police constable in January.
The 27-year-old, from Mansfield, said: "I’ve always wanted to work for the police.
"They protect communities and are such good role models."
More than half of the 202 new officers who have joined Nottinghamshire Police in the last financial year have been women.
Nationally an average of 42% of new recruits are women.
PC Wilcockson, who is assigned to the West Bridgford station, added: "I think it is really important.
"It’s great the force recognises that women can do just as good a job as men can.
"Even at the training school, it was great seeing how many female officers there were."
