The first in a series of street art murals to "celebrate Nottingham's rebels and pioneers" has been unveiled in the city centre.
The artwork by artist Rubes references Nottingham's history, including the lace industry and the Luddite movement, and has been created on the side of the council car park on Fletcher Gate.
Work on the second mural along the canal below the Carrington Street bridge will start in the coming days.
It is being created by Nottingham artist Honey Williams and will honour the life of Eric Irons OBE - the first black magistrate in the UK.
The Nottingham Project is behind the scheme, which is backed by the city council and the city's Business Improvement District (BID).
Director Lee Walker said it hopes to grow the street art on offer in the city in the coming years and more information on their locations will be released as work starts on them.
He added:“The ambition is this becomes much more than just a stunning collection of murals, with the potential to create a project that establishes Nottingham as a leading creative city and delivers real impact for the city centre, it’s businesses and most importantly the people of Nottingham."

A man who spat in a police officer's face claiming to have coronavirus has been jailed.
Nottinghamshire Police said Michael James tried to spit at and bite officers at the Bridewell custody suite in Nottingham before he spat in another officer's face on 1 July.
It came after he threw urine in the faces of three prison officers at HMP Nottingham on 15 March 2020, the force added.
The 34-year-old, of St Ann's Gardens, St Ann's, admitted three counts of assaulting an emergency worker and three charges of administering a noxious substance.
He was jailed for two years for those offences, and handed an additional 12-month sentence - to be served consecutively - after pleading guilty to a burglary at the Bierkeller pub in Friar Lane between 16 and 17 January this year.
Police said he was caught on CCTV entering the venue and stealing alcohol.

The water in Derwent Reservoir in Derbyshire is so low at the moment the base of a railway that was used in its construction has been unveiled.
The supports for the line were spotted by Lee Broughton from Stocksbridge, Sheffield, who regularly walks around the Peak District.
"I've been round the reservoir quite a few times but never seen them," he said.
"I've never seen it [the water level] that low before."
The reservoir is one of three in the area that were built in the 1940s.
The remains of the two villages that were flooded to make way for the reservoirs - Derwent and Ashopton - are sometimes revealed when water levels run very low.
In 2018 the water levels of Ladybower Reservoir fell so low the drowned village of Derwent could be seen once more, almost 100 years after it was flooded by the creation of the reservoir.
The young player was treated with a defibrillator after becoming "seriously unwell".

Staff at a wildlife trust have called the theft of £10,000 worth of specialist fencing mesh for a beaver enclosure "sickening".
Nottinghamshire Wildlife Trust (NWT) said 17 rolls of the material, which is in short supply, was taken overnight from the Idle Valley Nature Reserve, in Retford, on Tuesday.
Another three rolls were taken last night, totalling 2km of fencing, and a forklift truck belonging to contractors was also stolen.
The trust said beavers are due to arrive from Scotland and be reintroduced in Nottinghamshire this month after a 400-year absence.
This theft has delayed the construction of an enclosure but they are determined to keep the project on track.
Janice Bradley, from NWT, said: “The fencing materials were hidden well out of sight behind a locked barrier but someone who clearly knew exactly where to find them has cut the padlock off overnight and stolen them."
She added: “This is a sickening theft of specialist materials vital to our efforts to construct the secure enclosure ahead of the arrival of beavers from Scotland in the next few weeks."
She said the fencing was in short supply across the UK and they've been waiting for delivery for weeks "so it is hugely upsetting and frustrating to have the project delayed due to criminal activity”.
Insp Kylie Davies, from Nottinghamshire Police said: “Investigations are currently ongoing and we would ask anyone who may have witnessed the incident or has any information that may help our investigation to get in contact with us.”
Gloucestershire chase down 266 to beat Northants and there are final-day Championship wins for Middlesex and Worcestershire.

A man who engaged in sexual communication with police officers posing as teenage girls has had his jail sentenced doubled.
Lewis Watts, 26, of Saxelby Road in Melton Mowbray was jailed for three years at Leicester Crown Court on 28 June.
He pleaded guilty to three counts of attempting to engage in sexual communication with a child and one count of attempting to cause or incite a child to engage in sexual activity.
He also admitted to breaching an existing sexual harm prevention order that was put into place in 2015 when he was convicted of three counts of possession of indecent photographs of children, with a view to them being distributed or shown by himself to others.
The case was referred to the Court of Appeal under the unduly lenient sentence (ULS) scheme.
On Wednesday the court found his sentence to be unduly lenient and increased it to six years and three months in prison.
