    The Olympic Games may have finished a week ago, but our enjoyment of sport doesn't have to end there.

    That's the message ahead of what's being dubbed the "nation's biggest sports day" tomorrow. 

    The I am Team GB, external event will feature cricket, football, rugby, swimming, tennis and wheelchair tennis, all happening for free at The Shrewsbury Club, external.

    Telford captain Luca Havern says the team has the quality to string together a sequence of positive results. 

    The Bucks play Stockport tomorrow and Nuneaton on Monday, after an inconsistent start to the National League North season.

  3. First Telford homes built by councilpublished at 13:48 British Summer Time 26 August 2016

    The first of Telford and Wrekin Council's new homes have been completed.

    The authority formed a private company last year, in a bid to build hundreds of extra of properties in the borough.

    Thirty one homes have now been completed at Pool View in Randlay, external by developers Lovell, on behalf of the council's firm Nuplace.

    The Randlay homes, on the edge of Telford Town Park, are all fully let.

    Work is ongoing on a similar development in Madeley, with others in Hadley and Newport awaiting planning approval.

  5. Fumes inhaled during chemical leak at factory near Ellesmerepublished at 13:16 British Summer Time 26 August 2016

    Six people are being treated for inhaling chemical fumes after a leak at a meat processing company near Ellesmere.

    Firefighters were called to the ABP Food Group, external site in Hordley after hearing that part of a fridge had burst, allowing liquid ammonia to escape.

    A classic car firm in Bridgnorth is being handed over to its employees, who will own and run the business.

    Classic Motor Cars Ltd restores old vehicles and has worked on some of the world's rarest models.

    But its chairman, Peter Newmark, is turning the company into an Employee Ownership Trust in a move believed to be the first of its kind in the sector.

  8. Mouldy Shrewsbury flats 'not fit for purpose'published at 12:10 British Summer Time 26 August 2016

    A block of flats in Shrewsbury used as social housing should be demolished because they are "not fit for purpose", a local councillor says.

    The property in the Meole area is owned by Severnside Housing, external, who say they pride themselves on providing high-quality, affordable accommodation and that they'll meet with the people living there next week.

    Telford and Wrekin Council's been praised for its work with children at risk of sexual exploitation but needs to improve its children's services, according to a month-long Ofsted inspection, external

    The authority has been ranked as requiring improvement, and 11 recommendations have been flagged up.

    Only adoption and progress of care leavers were rated good.

    Even so, inspectors praised the authority for the "important improvements" that had been made since its last visit.

    The cabinet member responsible for the service, Councillor Paul Watling, says overall he's pleased with the findings.

    A block of flats owned by Severnside Housing in the Meole Brace area, is riddled with damp and mould, residents say.

    Shireen Walker has lived in one of them for five years and is due to have a baby in 10 weeks' time. She fears for the health of her children.

    Shrewsbury and Atcham MP Daniel Kawczynzski says something has to be done and is calling for radical improvements to social housing.

    Severnside Housing say they pride themselves on providing high-quality, affordable accommodation and always take prompt action when problems arise. They'll be meeting with Ms Walker next week.
