An artist from Shrewsbury whose stained glass windows can be seen in churches around the world is to be celebrated this autumn in a major new exhibition of her work, external at Shrewsbury Museum & Art Gallery.

You may have heard the Shrewsbury Town, external manager Micky Mellon yesterday praising the pace of new loan signing Mo Choulay down the wing.
Well Joe Riley (pictured above) is looking to do the same. The full-back, who signed from Bury over the summer and has played for Bolton, says his natural game is to get forward and help set up goals.

It's being claimed a group of Japanese tourists played their part in preventing Shropshire's world-famous Iron Bridge from being demolished.
In 1956 the then Salop County Council put forward a proposal to replace the structure.
Graham Hickman's family used to run the grocers which is now the Ironbridge Gorge museum shop. He says Japanese tourists were visiting the bridge at the same time as councillors - and may have changed minds.

The top 15 funniest jokes at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival have been announced and a Shropshire comedian has made the list.
The festival's "best jokes" were selected by a panel of 10 judges before being put to 2,000 people, who voted for their favourite.

Shropshire Council, external is defending its decision to crack down on parking in Ludlow.
Its enforcement officers have been issuing tickets to people who are parked in the market square after 18:00.
It said on 5 July, 49 notices were issued, with 31 relating to infringements after 18:00, while on 9 August, 25 were issued, with 19 being after 18:00 - a fall which means, the authority says, the practice is working.
But town councillor Andy Boddington said the number of fines issued in the evening was making people "really, really angry".
He said: "People tend to park around the town centre area, around the market square, on the side streets, not always in positions that are legal but they've done it for years."
Two professional footballers, including a former Shrewsbury Town striker, external, who apparently urinated into a glass at the Cheltenham Festival have been banned from attending racecourses in Britain.
The wet weather we had over the weekend has had a significant effect on the River Severn in Shrewsbury.

There's concern that cuts to health services could threaten beds at a Shropshire nursing home.
Shropshire Clinical Commissioning Group, external is looking to make savings of £3m, which may mean "GP beds" at the Lady Forester home in Much Wenlock have to close.
Shropshire's CCG is looking into how it can provide "the most effective use of public money". Earlier this month, it highlighted several areas where it felt there may be opportunities to cut costs.
Four beds at the Lady Forester home were initially part of a project created by GPs 10 years ago to provide post-hospital discharge provision for the community. They have all been occupied over the last 12 months.
Local Conservative councillor David Turner says they are a "value for money facility" and doesn't want to see them sacrificed as a "quick financial fix".

Shropshire wheelchair racer Ben Rowlings believes the GB Paralympic squad in Rio can do better than it did at London 2012.
The Newport athlete - who's making his Games debut in the 100 and 800 metres - flies out to Brazil this week.
He says despite the worries over funding, Paralympic sport is at an all-time high.

Shropshire Council's being criticised for issuing tickets to people who've parked in Ludlow's market square after 18:00.
The local authority says its approach, "whilst unpopular for some, is working" as it tries to address "identified parking problems".
Local councillors say they want a halt to the campaign, except where people are parking dangerously or blocking disabled access.
Shropshire Council says night-time parking restrictions, in place since July, has led to a fall in illegal and indiscriminate parking in the town.
Travellers have been moved on from a Shrewsbury town centre car park.
Shropshire Council said the group was asked to leave Frankwell car park, external on Friday.
