    They were on an Arriva service on Holly Road, Little Dawley, Telford, this lunchtime when one of them spotted smoke rising through the floor.

    Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service praised, external the driver's "quick-thinking" as he evacuated all three passengers to a safe distance before the blaze took hold.

    The ambulance wasn't called to treat anyone afterwards and the cause of the fire's being investigated.

    A group of homeowners in Shrewsbury are blaming their drains and not the River Severn after their homes were flooded.

    They live on the same street not far from the river but said it didn't reach their homes, instead water erupted from their drains.

    Chris Wright said it flooded their kitchen which they'd just spent £50,000 renovating.

    His partner Vivianne Howard said they think the problem is with their drainage system.

    "We've got all the terrace together, the five households that have been flooded and we're going to fight to get a resolution," she said.

    A Severn Trent spokesman said, having investigated, they are confident the flooding was caused by the incredibly high level the Severn reached and they're continuing to liaise with residents.

    A bus fire's sent large plumes of smoke over Telford this afternoon but nobody's believed to have been hurt.

    Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service said, external the driver and all passengers had got out before they were called to Holly Road, Little Dawley.

    The ambulance service said they weren't called out to the blaze.

    Heavy rain from three storms last month saw the River Severn rise dramatically, buckling flood defences in Ironbridge at one stage and causing widespread flooding.

    The council said it was also starting to pay out grants to flood-hit businesses this week and expected to complete another 20 next week.

    An old railway line should be reopened in Shropshire to help local communities recover from recent floods, a group of MPs says.

    All five parliamentarians in the county have backed a joint letter to the government to get the Ironbridge power station line back in use and converted for passengers.

    Transport Secretary Grant Snapps launched a £500m fund in January to restore historic railway lines and said communities could apply for some of the pot.

    People in Shropshire living near the point where the rivers Severn and Vyrnwy meet are being told to expect the flooding to stick around for a few more days yet.

    River levels there peaked last Saturday and have fallen noticeably, but the Environment Agency said the saturated land and swollen rivers had been topped up by further rainfall - forecast to continue into the weekend.

    There is still a flood alert for that part of the Severn , externaland as you can see from this photo, taken near Edgerley, some roads are still under water.

    The Barnabas Church Centre is on Longden Coleham, Shrewsbury, which flooded when the River Severn burst its banks last month.

    Three people have been arrested following the discovery of a "cannabis farm" in a disused nightclub last year.

    West Mercia Police said it raided addresses in Shrewsbury and Birmingham this morning and all three were arrested on suspicion in being involved in the production of cannabis.

    Plants thought to be worth up to £1.6m were found inside the building in Shrewsbury town centre last October and police officers also seized mobile phones, cash and vehicles in today's raids.

    A Shropshire brewery is making a best bitter to raise money for those affected by the recent floods.

    The Salopian Brewery in Hadnall, north of Shrewsbury, will donate £1 for every pint sold to the Community Foundation for Shropshire and Staffordshire.
