    Residents in Bridgnorth are being warned by the Environment Agency, external that the River Severn is expected to peak in the Shropshire town on Wednesday.

    Not far from Bridgnorth, West Mercia Police officers , externalin Broseley and Much Wenlock are patrolling the area to deter anyone breaking into homes and businesses left empty after last week's flooding.

    A woman trapped inside her overturned car in a ditch at night was rescued after being found with a location app.

    Police said the woman had no idea where she was when she crashed near Thirsk, North Yorkshire, on Friday and other drivers could not see her car.

    However, she managed to phone her father in Shrewsbury. He talked her through using the What3words app to get an exact location.

    North Yorkshire police were able to get to her within four minutes of a call.

    The app divides the world into 3m squares and gives each one a unique three-word address in order for people to be easily found in emergencies.

    Away from the falling markets, rising floodwater is causing problems in Britain.

    Flooding in Shrewsbury could reach its "highest ever" level and close off the centre of the town, The Environment Agency warned.

    Barriers have been put up, and a severe flood warning is in place, meaning there is a danger to life.

    Shropshire Council closed many routes into and around Shrewsbury, and said flooding could seal off the town..

    There are currently dozens of flood warnings, external and alerts in England after heavy rainfall.

    Workers for Shropshire Council have spent the night closing the main car routes in and out of the town centre river loop.

    They're keen to stress businesses remain open but you'll need to get to the centre on foot.

    Buses will be dropping off at the same three points as during last week's floods - Abbey Foregate, Frankwell Island and New Park Road in Castle Fields.

    Flood defences have been deployed and roads closed around Shrewsbury and a severe flood warning issued, external - meaning a danger to life.

    Defences have been put up on the River Severn at Frankwell and Coleham Head.

    A university has said it will not be banning beef from its menus despite other universities making the move and saying it's cut carbon emissions.

    Harper Adams University, a specialist agricultural institution based in Newport, Shropshire, said in a blog post today, external that leading education centres were making the move "based, in some cases, on popular opinion rather than proven facts".

    It didn't name any, but last year both the University of Cambridge and Goldsmiths, University of London, brought in beef bans to try to fight global warming.

    Harper Adams said, instead of removing beef from menus, it would continue research including into how changing cattle diet could cut methane emissions and would source meat from its own working farm.

    Shropshire Council, external says Frankwell Riverside and Frankwell Main are closed in Shrewsbury but will see if they can get an exit opened later today.

    In Bridgnorth, Riverside car park remains shut,but it is hoped it will reopen later this morning.
