    Officials at AFC Telford United are due to update supporters today on the club's recent share offer. 

    The club was selling the shares at £100 each and hasn't yet said how many people applied to buy one, or if anyone has asked to buy large numbers.

  3. Prison revamp plans under the spotlightpublished at 09:46 Greenwich Mean Time 15 December 2016

    Plans to renovate Shrewsbury's former prison could get the go-ahead when planners meet next week. 

    In October, the scheme was deferred by Shropshire Council after the developer who wants to transform The Dana prison asked for more time to work on his plans.

    Trevor Osborne wants to turn the former prison into new homes, student accommodation, a gym, shops and a restaurant - but the plan was set to be rejected because of fears over traffic. 

    Shrewsbury Town Council says it is in favour of the development but is still concerned about congestion. 

  4. River rescue bid in Shrewsbury fails to find anyonepublished at 09:35 Greenwich Mean Time 15 December 2016

    The emergency services spent an hour searching the River Severn, external in Shrewsbury late last night.

    The search was launched after reports of someone having gone into the water, near the town's sixth-form college. 

    Fire crews launched a rescue boat - but no one was found. 

    It's not been made clear whether the search will resume this morning.

    The New Saints maintained their winning streak last night with a 2-1 victory at Rhyl in the Welsh Premier League. 

    They're now 18 points clear at the top of the table. 

    It was their 24th win in a row in league and cup competitions.

    A man is due to appear in court in Hereford today charged with allowing a dog to be dangerously out of the control and worry livestock. 

    The charges come after 35 lambs were killed in fields at Risbury, Herefordshire, in September. 

    The 64-year-old, from Stanton Lacy, near Ludlow, is due at Hereford Magistrates' Court today.

    He's also charged with having an offensive weapon in a public place.

    A class at a school in Shropshire has been reunited with its beloved owl mascot after it went missing for six months. 

    The crocheted toy called Owlbert was lost on an outing in Shrewsbury in June. 

    St Lawrence's Primary School, in Church Stretton, launched a social media appeal to try to find him, but to no avail. 

    By chance last weekend he was spotted by year one pupil Florence, looking out of someone's front window.

    With three players suspended for the next two games and the January transfer window not open for several weeks, the Shrewsbury Town manager Paul Hurst has hinted some fringe-players may get their chance against Bristol Rovers and Bolton Wanderers.

  17. Handful of services to be disrupted by work over Christmaspublished at 17:09 Greenwich Mean Time 14 December 2016

    A handful of Shropshire train services will be affected by work on the railway line over Christmas.

    Network Rail is replacing sleepers on the line at Shrewsbury station and it will have an impact on trains running after 22:00 on Christmas Eve and before 06:00 on the day after Boxing Day.

    The work is part of a national programme of works and will have no effect on Christmas Day or Boxing Day, when there are no trains scheduled to run.

  19. Bathroom window 'could be worth thousands'published at 16:51 Greenwich Mean Time 14 December 2016

    A stained glass window set in a bathroom window in Church Stretton could be worth thousands of pounds.

    Designed by artist Margaret Rope, whose works are held by New York's Metropolitan Museum of Art, among others, its origins were discovered by homeowner Rosalind Garrard after moving in four years ago.

    Ms Garrard said the window is believed to have been created while Rope was a student at the Birmingham Municipal School of Art.

    It depicts a scene from the Apocrypha showing Judith's beheading of of Holofernes, a subject also covered by artist Caravaggio.

    A similar window also designed by Rope while a student in Birmingham recently sold at auction to a USA buyer for £30,000, Ms Garrard said.

    She is hoping someone can help shed some light on how it came to be in Church Stretton.
