    Both the A44 at Leominster and the rail line between Hereford and Shrewsbury are likely to be closed for the rest of the day after a lorry collided with a house at a level crossing.

    The fire service and specialist contractors are trying to move the HGV, carrying 28 tonnes of grain, from the house next to the Mill Street level crossing.

    The owners of the former Ironbridge power station say they have had "positive discussions" with Shropshire Council over the sale of the 141-hectare site.

    Uniper said it was time for a "different future" for the land at Buildwas and revealed it has been talking to the authority for "some time" about its intention to sell it.

    Shropshire Council leader Malcolm Pate said he wanted to get "the maximum benefit from the redevelopment of the sire to support the county's economic growth".

    The volunteer-run Telford Steam Railway says it was shocked to discover the amount of rubbish that appears to have been fly tipped by the tracks.

    Chairman Paul Hughes found it on a routine inspection and described it as a "commercial fly-tipping operation".

    It says the land is owned by Network Rail, so it won't have to pay for the clean-up.

    The former power station at Buildwas is being put up for sale.

    Its owners, Uniper, said it had considered a number of options, but after concluding it wasn't suitable as a site for power generation any more, it decided to look for a new owner to "realise its potential".

    The power station ceased production in 2015 and plans to demolish the old cooling towers are already being drawn up.

    An estimated five lorry loads of rubbish has been fly-tipped beside a heritage railway line in Telford. 

    The site in Lightmoor, which is owned by Network Rail and used by the Telford Steam Railway, is littered with bits of wood, food packaging, and plastic bags.

    Lee Hughes was at Telford's training ground last night after joining the Bucks from fellow non-leaguers Worcester City.

    The striker had expressed interest in succeeding Carl Heeley as manager of the National League North club, but said the club's decision to stick with interim manager John Snape was not what prompted his move.

    A South Shropshire charity, which lost thousands of pounds in a cold-calling scam, is determined to carry on raising money.

    Birch Hill Dog Rescue in Cleobury Mortimer was pressurised into paying for worthless adverts by a firm called Wyvern Media.

    Barbara Stone, who was involved in the scam, was given a 22-month suspended jail term yesterday.  

    Jutta Patterson, who ran the charity, has since died, but trustee Wendy Watts says they'll continue in her legacy

    The Australian celebrity chef, along with Greg Wallace, has starred on the BBC's Masterchef programme since 2004.

    The collision, at the Mill Street level crossing in Leominster, has closed both the A44 and the rail line between Hereford and Shrewsbury.

    The fire service say it could take the rest of the day to move the lorry, which was carrying 28 tonnes of grain.

    Neither the driver nor anyone is the house was injured in the accident, which happened at 05:50.

    Shrewsbury Town's Paul Hurst has just missed out on the Manager of the Month award for January.

  14. HGV crashes into house: Structural damage being assessedpublished at 10:41 Greenwich Mean Time 10 February 2017

    No-one has been injured after a HGV collided with a house at a level crossing in Leominster, the fire service says.

    The collision has closed the A44 at the Mill Street level crossing - Hereford & Worcester Fire and Rescue Service says the road is likely to be closed for the rest of the day.

    A structural engineer is on site to assess the damage to the house before fire crews can move the HGV, which was carrying 35 tonnes of grain.

    Market Drayton is finally welcoming its original gingerbread recipe back home.  

    Billingtons luxury gingerbread was made in the town from about 1817 from a secret recipe, but the latest baker to own the recipe moved to Yorkshire in 2004.

    Now the recipe is being returned to its rightful home and Market Drayton company Image on Food will be baking Billington's Gingerbread under licence.
