    An Oswestry shop assistant says he's now wary of working night shifts after being threatened for the second time with a knife.

    Luke Barry is back behind the till at the Co-Op convenience store in Castle Street.

    He was forced to hand over money at the weekend and last year he was held up by a man wielding a machete. Security has been stepped-up at the store, the firm says.

    The British players at the Aegon GB Pro-Series tournament in Shrewsbury have had a mixed day with Marcus Willis and Jonathan Gray both progressing to the third round, but Duncan Scott going out.

    Gray was leading the Belgian top seed Germain Gigounon by a set and four games to one when his opponent was forced to retire.

    Meanwhile, wild card Ryan Storrie has been playing for over two hours and is into a third set against Yannick Vandenbulcke.

    Customs officers have seized 1,580 litres of wine and 18,100 cans of beer after raiding properties in Birmingham, Dudley, Worcester, Telford, Stoke-on-Trent, Coventry and Wolverhampton.

    HMRC says an estimated £20,000 in duty and VAT evaded on the illicit alcohol and they also seized a van, used to transport some of it.

    Officers uncovered more than 10,638 litres of alcohol in the raids on 24 premises.

    It's been a good day for the British players at the Aegon GB Pro-Series tournament in Shrewsbury.

    Earlier Marcus Willis sailed through to the third round in straight sets and he's now been joined by Jonathan Gray, who was a set and 4-1 up against the top seed from Belgium, Germain Gigournon, when his opponent was forced to retire.

    An investigation is under way after a static-caravan and a large garage were destroyed in a fire at Wirswall, on the outskirts of Whitchurch. 

    Cheshire Fire Service put a safety cordon in place because there were cylinders inside the buildings, but no-one was hurt.

    A play highlighting the dangers of borrowing from loan sharks is being staged as a warning to students in Telford today.

    The one-hour drama, external tells the story of a woman who turns to unscrupulous lenders after losing her job, with terrible consequences.

    The play is being performed in front of an audience of students from Telford's New College and TCAT with the aim of raising awareness.

    Britain's Marcus Willis will be joined in the third round of the Aegon GB Pro-Series event by Germany's Tobias Simon and Spain's Andres Artunedo Martinavarr after they also won in straight sets.

    Fellow-Brit Jonathan Gray could join him and is one set up in his second round match at the Shrewsbury Club, but Scott Duncan is out.

    Shrewsbury Town manager Paul Hurst says his side "lacked energy" in their defeat away to Peterborough United last night.

    Stephen Humphrys was sent off 10 minutes into the second half and Hurst said the combination of playing with 10 men and weekend's fixture away to Scunthorpe eventually caught up with them.

    A 40-year-old Dawley woman who pleaded guilty to burglary and four charges of fraud has been jailed for 41 months by Stafford Crown Court.

    Police say Anne-Marie Boden committed the offences in Telford between 30 August and 3 September.

    A man from Telford is appealing for help to find a play venue for children like his 13-year-old daughter, who has non-verbal autism.

    Simon Buckley-Robbins says there's nowhere in Telford which caters adequately for disabled children.

    He's part of a project called The Special Needs Activity Club, which has more than 250 members.

    Market Drayton Town's star winger Shaquille Whittingham was the match-winner with a goal two minutes into the second half of their Shropshire Premier Cup semi final last night.

    Last month, the club took the unusual step of signing the 19-year-old to a contract, because they believe he may be destined for greater things in the future.
