    A travelling circus family could be allowed to stay on a former school playground in north Shropshire for another year. 

    The Stokes family have been at Ifton Heath for over a year, and an application's been made for a 12-month extension.

    A report to councillors next week says it should be allowed while efforts continue to find them a more permanent site.

    Shrewsbury Town captain, Abu Ogogo says he's fully ready to lead Shrewsbury Town's fight to stay in League One.

    The Town captain made an earlier-than-expected return from his long-term knee injury in yesterday's 1-1 draw at Northampton - playing the full 90 minutes.

    Planning permission is being sought for 77 homes on the site of the old Telford Snooker Centre - which was also known, at various times, as Minnesota Fats, and The Ice Lounge.

    A new type of vets' practice is opening in Shrewsbury later this month.

    The Animal Trust is refurbishing the former Manser's antique centre near the town's English Bridge. It will provide 18 new jobs.

    Hundreds of people from more than 35 countries were in Shropshire this weekend for the Neo race championships. 

    They're passionate about racing remote control cars, that are half a metre long, run on nitro fuel and some of the drivers that took part are among the best in the world.

    The Conservative MP for Ludlow, Philip Dunne, says he will be supporting the vote for a General Election in June, when it comes before Parliament tomorrow.

  11. Moo-ve it: Fire crews rescue cow from slurry pitpublished at 13:08 British Summer Time 18 April 2017

    These firefighters need a pat on the back - for rescuing a cow that had fallen into a slurry pit.

    Crews from Market Drayton and Wellington were called out to the unusual operation at Longslow in Shropshire shortly before 9:00. 

    Wearing sealed rubber suits to stop contamination, they lowered themselves into three feet of cow muck and attached a harness around the stranded animal. 

    It was winched out of danger and is now recovering from the ordeal. As are the firefighters.

    A jockey from Shropshire is turning heads by winning races at just 16 years old. 

    Henry Crow from Hadnall has already won seven in his first season and was one of the youngest riders taking part at Cheltenham last month.

  17. Hospital can 'cut waste' by taking over all orthopaedic carepublished at 10:44 British Summer Time 18 April 2017

    The Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt hospital (RJAH) in Gobowen wants to take over the running of all orthopaedic care for the county. 

    Shropshire's Clinical Commissioning Group wants to delegate the running of the service it currently manages as it looks to cut its budget deficit which stands at close to £26m.
