    The chief executive of Oswestry's orthopaedic hospital says significant progress has been made in tackling long waiting times for surgery. 

    Some patients had been waiting more than a year.

    Mark Brandreth says last month they were just 0.5% short of meeting national targets for treating patients within 18 weeks.

    Mat Sadler's second-half equaliser earned Shrewsbury a valuable point at nine-man Northampton Town.

    Yesterday's game ended 1-1.

    Marc Richards' header gave Northampton a 21st-minute lead, but Sadler headed home Shrewsbury's equaliser midway through the second period, while home pair David Buchanan and John-Joe O'Toole were both sent off.  

    They were the only side in the bottom eight not to be beaten.
