Ludlow's MP Philip Dunne says he's confident maternity services in the county can get back on to a "stable footing" following a series of critical reports, staff shortages and a string of closures at units in Ludlow, Bridnorth and Oswestry.
The number of baby deaths in the county is higher than it should be according to the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists and the rural units keep having to be closed because of staff sickness.
Mr Dunne, who's also a minister of the Department of Health, says the two issues are linked - but says he's been assured that the Shrewsbury and Telford hospitals trust is working hard to recruit more midwives.
