    The issue of falling salmon numbers in the Rivers Severn is being put to anglers and fishery managers, to see if they would accept limits on the number of fish caught.

    The Environment Agency says there is no simple solution to the declining salmon population and that fishermen are not the biggest threat, but says it wants to see if fishing could be managed better.

    This consultation is due to last until 9 October and the agency says it also wants to improve habitats, improve river flow, remove barriers to migration and clear up water quality in spawning grounds.

    Train provider London Midland has announced it will change its signs on accessible toilets to acknowledge invisible disabilities.

    The new signs will be displayed on all accessible toilets throughout London Midland's 43 stations.

    Dan McLean, from Crohn’s and Colitis UK, said it was a great step towards "reducing stigma and raising awareness that not every disability is visible".

    While one hospital turned down a £2,500 donation from a group of men dressed up as nurses, many more have said they're happy to receive the donation.

    The outfits were described as "insulting" and "demeaning" by hospital bosses.

    But fundraiser Peter Corfield has said a number of hospitals around the country have been in touch to say they'd gladly receive the donation "irrespective of the way the collectors were attired".

    Mr Corfield said "the money was raised in Ludlow for the benefit of local people" and so, for now, it will remain in the account until the fundraisers can agree "on the most appropriate cause that is local, charitable, practical, has a healthcare connection and, above all is not challenged over the collection methodology."

    Shropshire Revolution have a Brit Bowl semi-final against Gateshead Senators at Oakengates on Sunday.

    The team got there by crushing Morecambe Storm 60 - 8 in the quarter-finals last weekend.

    The Revolution are the number one seed in the play-offs after a perfect winning record in the regular season, but if they reach the final they will have to play in Leeds, possibly against the number two seeded Leeds Bobcats.

    If you’re travelling this bank holiday beyond Shropshire, there will be a few things slowing you down - so here's what you need to know.

    Highways England, which manages the motorway network, said it would lift or complete about 98% of all work before the bank holiday. If roadworks aren't getting in the way, the five million drivers on the road might be though.

    Monday is expected to be the busiest day and the most hectic times for travelling are expected to be between 15:00 and 19:00.

    If you're getting the train to London from Shropshire, there will be no trains in or out of Euston over the weekend because of works on HS2.

    Organisers of the event at Onslow Park say there'll also be traditional tractors, vintage vehicles and a replica of the world's first ever railway locomotive., external

    They say the Red Arrows are due to make a flypast at 15:04 on Sunday afternoon.

    Telford Tigers fans will get their first chance to watch their new-look team this weekend, after their move to the National Ice Hockey League North.

    A number of key players have stayed following the collapse of the English Premier League, including Jason Silverthorn, Rick Plant and Jonathan Weaver (pictured below) and the team has been boosted by the return of the popular Joe Miller.

    The club also will continue to put out a second team, which will play in the NIHL North Division Two.

    Tigers D1 have a friendly away to Billingham Stars tomorrow, before playing the same side at the Telford Ice Rink on Sunday.

    Paul Hurst believes the squad he's assembled at Shrewsbury Town is the best one he's ever worked with.

    Hurst made it 14 summer signings when he brought in Omar Beckles and Ben Godfrey this week, so transforming the squad he inherited when he took over last October.

    “I’m delighted with the business we’ve managed to do, and the squad now is no doubt the strongest I’ve had the privilege to work with,” he said, ahead of Town’s weekend trip to Oxford.

    “If the players show the right attitude and take on board the things we’re asking of them, I think we can have a good season.”

    Hospital trusts from across the country have said they'd be happy to receive the £2,500 raised by Shropshire men dressed as nurses for Ludlow Hospital, but the hospital's league of friends says it has to be spent locally.

    The money was turned down by the Shropshire Community Health Trust, on the grounds their costumes were "demeaning" and "insulting to the profession".

    The league of friend's chairman Peter Corfield says the money is in the bank and can't be handed over to another trust or charity without a meeting being held.

    And their constitution states cash raised should be spent in Ludlow.

    One of the newcomers to the AFC Telford United squad, Elliot Newby, says the team has bonded well under Rob Edwards.

    They are at home to Bradford Park Avenue tomorrow, and Newby said "Everyone knows what they're doing and sort of gets on."

    Edwards has increased the amount of training the squad does since his arrival and has got the players travelling up to away games the day before the match, so they can stay in a hotel together.

    Plans to build 230 homes on the Copthorne Barracks site in Shrewsbury are to go before councillors for the second time, after being turned down last year.

    The development would include a mixture of apartments, houses and retirement homes and the report going before Shropshire Council's planning committee next week recommends the application is approved.

    There's been concern over the number of affordable homes in the plans, the number of homes for veterans and the loss of a well-used playing field on the site.
