Anglers asked to help with declining salmon numberspublished at 16:11 British Summer Time 25 August 2017
The issue of falling salmon numbers in the Rivers Severn is being put to anglers and fishery managers, to see if they would accept limits on the number of fish caught.
The Environment Agency says there is no simple solution to the declining salmon population and that fishermen are not the biggest threat, but says it wants to see if fishing could be managed better.
This consultation is due to last until 9 October and the agency says it also wants to improve habitats, improve river flow, remove barriers to migration and clear up water quality in spawning grounds.
