Officers 'held accountable for use of force', police saypublished at 12:16 British Summer Time 5 September 2017
Police officers are always held accountable for their use of force, West Mercia Police has said, following the release of figures covering this spring.
Ch Supt Steve Cullen said they are well-trained and experienced and they use their judgement "in trying to resolve situations peacefully".

The figures show "unarmed tactics" like wrist locks were used 1,400 times between April and June, with handcuffs used more than 1,000 times and CS spray around 100 times.
Quote MessageObviously where we do resort to force there's appropriate oversight, scrutiny and we're held accountable for that and the officers have to justify why they have done that."
