    Work to surround the Ironbridge in Shropshire in scaffolding starts today. , external

    It's all part of a £1.2m restoration project by English Heritage, which the charity describes as its "single largest conservation project to date".

    The work is needed because, they say, some of the ironwork is showing signs of cracking due to factors including a 19th Century earthquake.

    Scaffolding is needed before conservation work can start later this autumn.
