  1. Flog It to visit RAF museum at Cosfordpublished at 15:48 British Summer Time 4 September 2017

    The BBC One show Flog It will be coming to the RAF museum at Cosford next month and it's a chance for you to get your knick-knacks valued.

    Visitors will be allowed to bring in up to three items on 5 October, which will be checked over by the programme's team of experts.

    If your item turns out to be worth something, it might be filmed and sent on to an auction in Dudley on 26 October.

    The museum will then feature in four editions of the daytime show.

    Jacob William Weber-Wood wrote: " I really enjoyed the Saturday. Perhaps a more suitable location that's not 90% grass would get rid of the worry of bad weather affecting it."

    Tina Jarvis also said she enjoyed it and hopes it returns next year, but wondered if people had trouble finding it, writing: "As there is lots of building work being done and outside Southwater it's boarded up - people wouldn't see much."

    And Lecky Phillips suggested: "It's such a shame the weather let it down which will have affected numbers.... but also maybe have it as a one-day event next year."

  3. Elderly man crashes through fences in Shrewsburypublished at 15:02 British Summer Time 4 September 2017

    A man, thought to be in his 80s, has crashed his car through two fences in Shrewsbury.

    The police say it appears he had a "medical episode", but that otherwise he was unhurt in the crash, which took place at 11:40 by the Heathgates roundabout.

    Police say an operation next to the River Severn in Shrewsbury is linked to the search for a missing man.

    Officers have taped off the area around the Quantum Leap sculpture near the Welsh Bridge.

    Earlier, they appealed for information about Shane Walsh, a 29-year-old who was last seen in the early hours of Sunday morning.

    AFC Telford United's FA Cup campaign will start with a home game.

    In the draw for the second qualifying round, they've been paired with Barwell, a Leicestershire-based side who play a division below the Bucks in the Northern Premier League.

    Haughmond FC have been rewarded with an away tie against Boston United after reaching the second qualifying round of the FA Cup for the first time in their history.

    Their opponents are a former football league side who play in the same division as Telford and they get crowds of around 1,000, so the Shropshire side will hope for a healthy amount of gate money.

  9. Charity raises £10,000 at V Festivalpublished at 13:25 British Summer Time 4 September 2017

    The charity Village Water, external says says it raised more than £10,000 at the V festival last month.

    The Shrewsbury-based organisation provides safe water and sanitation for communities in rural Africa.

    Village Water had more than 100 volunteers at the event, helping campers by renting trolleys and offering a plastic bottle exchange, as glass bottles weren't allowed on the festival site.

  11. More roadworks on Bridgnorth bypasspublished at 13:04 British Summer Time 4 September 2017

    A new phase of the ongoing roadworks on the Bridgnorth bypass starts tonight.

    It will involve resurfacing the Ludlow Road and Kidderminster Road roundabouts.

    The A458 itself is then being resurfaced from Wednesday evening, when night-time closures also come into effect.

  12. Jail adds more than 5,000 days to prisoners' sentencespublished at 12:39 British Summer Time 4 September 2017

    Around 5,000 days were added to the sentences of inmates at Stoke Heath Prison last year, because of their bad behaviour.

    The figures come from The Howard League prison reform charity, which says the practice of adding to sentences needs to stop, because it is adding extra pressure to the system.

    Stoke Heath contains around 750 inmates and handed out more days for bad behaviour than HMP Birmingham, which houses roughly twice that number.

  13. Football: Haughmond manager wants Salford cup tiepublished at 12:11 British Summer Time 4 September 2017

    The manager of Haughmond FC, Matt Burton, says he wants to draw Salford City in the second qualifying round of the FA Cup.

    He is a Manchester United fan and would love the chance to go up against the team funded and run by ex-United stars like Gary Neville and Paul Scholes.

    This is the furthest Haughmond have ever come in the competition and they got there with a shock 3-2 win over Matlock from the Northern Premier League.

    And Burton said that at this stage of the competition he will be happy whoever he gets.

  14. Shropdoc chair rubbishes 'one GP' claimpublished at 11:50 British Summer Time 4 September 2017

    The company who provide Shropshire's out-of-hours GP service says changes to the way it operates haven't been finalised yet.

    Shropdoc is looking to cut its costs and has said it will give extra training to nurses and paramedics, to allow them to take on tasks previously performed by doctors.

    But its chairman, Dr Russell Muirhead, has dismissed a claim, made in an anonymous letter from someone claiming to work for the organisation, that the county could end up with only one GP on duty at times.

    The new principal of North Shropshire College says it's no bad thing that a merger with Reese Heath College in Cheshire fell through.

    The two colleges accepted the merger wasn't going to happen after failing to win financial support from the government.

  16. Football: Shrewsbury manager frustrated by Rodmanpublished at 11:10 British Summer Time 4 September 2017

    Alex Rodman was on the score sheet again at the weekend, as Shrewsbury Town beat Gillingham 2-1 away from home, but manager Paul Hurst says the winger can be frustrating on occasions.

    He said the player was "in his own little world" at times, but said that's something he has to live with when he puts Rodman on the pitch, knowing he can pop up with important goals.

  17. Future of Telford food festival undecidedpublished at 10:47 British Summer Time 4 September 2017

    Around 6,000 people visited the Telfood Feastival event in Telford town park over the weekend.

    The food festival is organised by the same company which puts on the Shrewsbury Food Festival and the Shropshire Kids Festival, Shropshire Festivals.

    It is the second year the event has been held and numbers were slightly down on last year, after bad weather on Sunday.

    Shropshire Festivals haven't decided if the festival will return next year.

  18. Ice hockey: Tigers begin life in new league with winspublished at 10:27 British Summer Time 4 September 2017

    Telford Tigers had a thrilling opening-night victory over Sheffield Steeldogs on Saturday, eventually winning the game on penalties after the two sides finished level at 3-3.

    And they followed that up with a more comfortable 5-2 win away to the Nottingham Lions.

    It was a mixed weekend for the division two side though - they lost their opening match 8-1 away to Altrincham Aces, but bounced back with a 16-1 win at home to the Deeside Dragons second team.
