The as yet unnamed female was born to parents George, 10, and Lizzy, 8 after a 15-month gestation period.

Giraffes as a species are listed as vulnerable, with an estimated 1,600 Rothschild giraffes remaining in the wild.

Threatened by habitat loss, civil unrest, poaching and ecological changes, the giraffes at Flamingo Land are part of a global conservation programme to support the breeding of the species in captivity.

The zoo says it'll launch a competition to name the new baby giraffe in the next few days. If you have any suggestions, feel free to email them across to us.

  12. Analysis: Full steam ahead (finally) on Settle-Carlisle Railwaypublished at 09:13 Greenwich Mean Time 14 February 2017

    Danny Savage
    North of England correspondent

The fact that timetabled services on the world-famous Settle to Carlisle Railway line in North Yorkshire are being powered by steam today for the first time in decades is more than just a novelty.

    Train on Ribblehead Viaduct

For over a year the Settle to Carlisle route has been severed in Cumbria by a huge landslide, with Northern wanting to give the route a high-profile boost before the reopening.

Laying on the first timetabled, turn-up-and-go steam services in nearly half a century is just the ticket.

It was on the Settle-Carlisle line that the last steam passenger train ran in August 1968, and rail enthusiasts will see this opportunity as a bargain.

An adult standard day return between Appleby and Skipton costs about £17, and for that you get a ride behind Tornado in "proper" carriages. Expect the services to be hugely popular.

Catch up with the very latest from today's event on the Settle-Carlisle line here.

In the last five years, more than £4.5m has been paid out to council house tenants in Leeds who're living in substandard conditions.

The BBC's discovered legal action has been taken over issues such as damp, asbestos damage and faulty electrics.

The council says it's spent more than £76m since 2012 trying to fix the problems.

Ann Asquith lives in a council house in Armley and she's already received compensation, but says she's planning to head to court again:

  15. Tornado 'off into history' at Applebypublished at 08:43 Greenwich Mean Time 14 February 2017

BBC Look North's in-house locomotive enthusiast Tom Ingall has once again sealed his dream gig and gets on board Tornado at Appleby.

After a look around the cab of Flying Scotsman last year, he's in his element once again.

I think it's fair to call it his dream Valentine's Day.
