    Charity boxes have been stolen in a break-in in Burton., external

    Staffordshire Police say the burglars forced their way into the business on Waterloo Street overnight.

    Officers say along with the charity boxes they also took cash from the till and produce from the firm.

    A man from Staffordshire is pleading with a mobility company to send his dying wife the specialist chair he ordered three months ago before it's too late. 

    Geoff Perry, from Cellarhead, told BBC Radio Stoke that he paid £1,000 for the chair to make his wife Sandra's last days more comfortable but he still hasn't received it. 

    BBC Radio Stoke has made several attempts to contact UK Mobility Direct, the company involved, sending emails and leaving several voicemails but haven't had a response.

    Don't go buying any league-winning scarves for next May Stoke City fans - it's not going to happen. 

    We're saying that because data company Gracenote has been crunching the numbers as to where all the Premier League teams will finish - and their chance of winning the title.

    Gracenote say, external Stoke will finish on 44 points in 11th place and have a 0.0% chance of winning the league.

  9. 'Guinea Pig Club' monument to be unveiled in Staffordshirepublished at 10:45 Greenwich Mean Time 2 November 2016

    The Duke of Edinburgh will unveil a monument later today to honour the hundreds of badly injured Allied servicemen who were members of what became known as the Guinea Pig Club during World War Two. 

    The club was largely made up of air crew who'd suffered severe burns.

    They received pioneering treatment from plastic surgeon Sir Archibald McIndoe at a hospital at East Grinstead in West Sussex. 

    The Duke, who's the club president, will reveal the monument at the National Memorial Arboretum at Alrewas.

  10. Disruption after two crashes around junction 16 of M6published at 10:33 Greenwich Mean Time 2 November 2016

    There were two incidents in the area around junction 16 of the M6 near Crewe this morning, we've been told.

    Staffordshire Police say they were first called to the northbound carriageway, just after the exit slip road, after a vehicle had collided with the central reservation. 

    The force says around 20 minutes later at 08:00 they had reports of a crash on the roundabout of the A500 at junction 16 of the M6, believed to involve a lorry and two cars. 

    There is still disruption in the area and BBC Travel has the latest information.

  14. Six vehicles involved in M6 crash near Crewepublished at 09:21 Greenwich Mean Time 2 November 2016

    Six vehicles have been reported to be involved in the crash this morning on the M6 near Crewe, the fire service says.

    Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service , externalsay they and other emergency services were called at around 08:30 to the motorway just after the exit slip road at junction 16. 

    The service says several people have been hurt but no one was trapped. One woman's been taken to hospital by ambulance.

    A man's proposed to his girlfriend from his hospital bed , externalas he was waiting for surgery to remove a bone tumour.

    Andrew Estcourt, 44, from Winterley near Crewe was having an operation on a rare tumour on his leg at the Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic Hospital near Oswestry, Shropshire. 

    While he was there he enlisted the help of doctors and nurses to spring a surprise proposal on his girlfriend Selina Lawton at his bedside - and she said yes.
